worst offense in the league? Plz dont draft DT.

Why pick a top 5 WR when we have a project QB. If we are going to draft someone in the top 5 especially with a rookie cap I would take another QB or DT/DE/corner. Clausen is cheap and not a high pick. Lets take another one and see if we can hit the jackpot with one of them. Truth is a great franchise quarterback make average receivers good. A great receiver like Smitty still can't do anything if the quarterback can't get them the ball.

Otherwise I go defense.

If the new coach doesn't like Clausen and Andrew Luck is there when we pick (not likely unless we are #1) then go Luck. However, if the coach thinks that Clausen has potential then you get Green to help this offense. If our OL can stay healthy (mainly Otah) then we are set at those positions. Our DBs are really talented and I like what we have if we can bring Marshall back. The DTs and DEs in this draft are not worth a top pick. AJ Green is going to be the best player in the draft no question about it. He is the closest WR I have seen to Randy Moss in a long time (build, speed, athleticism, effortlessness). You don't find WRs like him often and Steve Smith has stated repeatedly that he wants help.

IMO its a no-brainer unless we get another defensively-minded coach and we go Patrick Peterson and let Marshall walk. Marcel Dareus, Robert Quinn and the rest of the DL are overrated and will end up being the next Glenn Dorsey or Gaines Adams of the 2011 draft (overrated and not worth a top 5 pick).

BPA goes in this order:

Green

Peterson

Ingram

and then there is a HUGE fall in my opinion as far as a definite talent at the NFL level. Luck or Quinn are probably next on the list and Quinn wouldn't be my pick if we had a top 5 selection. My position is essentially if we like Clausen and don't get Green or Peterson then we trade out. If we don't like Clausen then we take Luck.

I think the odds could favor the new coach not loving Clausen. Not sure that means we would draft Luck if we had the #1. Look at some of the more recent new coaches in the league......they went out in brought in vets right away (Orton in Den, McNabb in Wash, etc.).

How is CB not as big of an issue? Richard Marshall will most likely be gone, and that will leave us with Gamble, Cap'n, and Wilson.

I never said it wasn't an issue just not as big. If we had another shutdown corner against the 49ers would that solve our biggest issue? Not my IMO. Yeah we need corners when offseason comes, but that wouldn't be the biggest hole to fill.

Marshawn Lynch got a 4th and a 6th, remind me again of how DWill would get a 1st and a 3rd?

Also, the Pats just traded a 4th for Deion Branch, and it's been reported they are officially out of the WR market, as of right now.

I have already answered this question for you.....DWill is twice the back that Lynch EVER will be.

although you will NEVER get a 1st and a 2nd for him...that is crazy.

I'm not giving up on Clausen yet, but p55 has a a point here. The freaking out and bad decisions I can handle in stride .. he's still adjusting to the speed of things and to the complex defenses. But his mechanics are BAD and going to be a lot harder to smooth over. Weird delivery, low balls, big ass windup and his arm looks weak whenever he throws long (not that this happens much).

I still think you start him after the bye, but I'm a lot lower on the guy now than I was a couple of weeks ago. He looks like a big project, not like the most pro-ready QB from the previous draft.

Clausen looked better in week 3 than in week 5.

What does that tell you?

You guys do realize that drafting Luck is contingent on his actually leaving school early to be available, AND the Panthers would have to have the top pick.

If he stays in school and Clausen is just awful the rest of the year, that means our options at QB are stick with Jimmy, Jake Locker, or Ryan Mallett. Eww.

I agree. I was just using what's happened this year as sort of a guiding light to what the other trades WOULD be. There's no running back in the NFL right now that would get a 1st round pick, much less a 1st and a 2nd or 3rd.

People on here think that just because they can trade DWill to the Packers on Madden for a 1st, 2nd, and Clay Matthews that it can happen in real life.

AT MOST, I would see DWill getting a late 2nd and a late LATE 3rd or 4th.

And Steve Smith drawing a 1st round pick is ludicrous.

Oh, and for the people thinking they have "sources" or know anything about the internal goings-ons...

VJax to Pats never was a possibility.

How do we know Troy Aikman. What if I am advocating drafting a legitimate franchise quarterback after we ended up drafting Brady Quinn aka Jimmy Clausen this year.

All of you assume hall of famer when you make those comparisions but honestly I see none of that at all. His low ball delivery, long wind up on any pass over 15 yards and poor accuracy are all markers suggesting he has poor mechanics despite all the coaching. It isn't just his being lost and clueless but poor mechanics and fundamentals that are also the problem. All of the things that people suggested he could do he hasn't evidenced at all.

Some things you can unlearn but somethings haunt you all your career. He has shown nothing to show he is a legitimate NFL prospect. Listen to the folks who know quarterbacks who have watched him for 3 weeks. He is defintely not who we thought he was.

Honestly I enjoy reading your posts because they are well thought out and articulate.

When it comes to quarterbacks though... your best analysis was Moore-Cantwell-Clausen.

It turned out to be Clausen-Moore-Pike. And you still seem bitter about it.

Clausen had a bad game. It happens. He's a rookie quarterback on the worst offense in the NFL. It's not the worst offense because of him... it was just as bad during the preseason and first 2 regular season games with Moore. It's just bad and a new hotshot from college isn't going to make it any better right now. An experienced quarterback might. If you weren't so entrenched in the Moore/Clausen charade that is what you would be saying.

well, actually we have averaged less points and total yards when Clausen starts.

Right. So we should not get the rookie PT so we can lose with more yardage with Moore who will be gone next year.

Moore might hang around as backup.....Moore might be gone. I think Jimmy will be a backup as well next year. So you could really argue both could be getting playing time......since both are relatively young NFL QBs.
