How can anyone justify Moore over Clausen at this point?

If Clausen is such a horrible QB then how did he come out of both the Bengals and Saints game with a higher QB rating than the QB he faced?

The QB rating argument again? I might give you against Palmer but even Palmer managed to put points on the board but really against Brees you are going to say he played better?

Lower completion %

Less Yards

Same TD

Same INT

How is that better?

If we are going to sneak resumes into our conversations I'd rather PM you. I watched the game and saw some open guys myself. I don't know if it was his last drive or close to it but on 3 consecutive plays (another 3 and out) he missed 3 open guys by 5 feet. What did you observe there?

I'm not saying he didn't miss any throws, but it's false to characterize that as him missing wide-open receivers downfield all game long.

No need to compare resumes, that really doesn't prove anything... we will have to agree to disagree.

Clausen is not sitting back and letting the offense function. He is running away like a scared little girl as soon as he gets the ball. Not only that but he is doing it to Peppers side and guess who is one of the best and fastest DEs in the league...

I observed a rattled quarterback who had three straight terrible miscommunication with his receivers, which he said in his postgame interview.

That last series for him was terrible, completely terrible, and I don't think anyone would defend him.

er, what?

Often, his scrambles were AWAY from Peppers, towards the other dude. Which is why Peppers had no sacks, but the dude opposite him had 3.

What is he supposed to say? He has 3 options:

I suck and can't hit a wide open receiver

My receiver sucks and went the wrong way

There was a miscommunication.

You can believe his interview or believe he was trying to cover his ass. He didn't man up on that deep ball when directly asked about it either FWIW.

I'd show you picture evidence but Zod said we can't post any of those pics on this site.

He did it more than once.

If you go to Zod's picture post from earlier you will see the result of one of his rollouts towards Peppers.

QB rating is not the end-all-be-all of QB play but it says something.

Bottom line: judging a rookie QB after only 3 starts is foolish, especially when that rookie QB is playing with mostly rookie WR's.

Clausen is sitting back and letting this offense function, it's just not functioning.

In his most recent start (and worst performance) Clausen was the first rookie QB to start a game with nothing but rookie WR's since '98.

In his first start, he played in horrible weather conditions (I was there, had a hard time gripping my beer).

If Clausen is such a horrible QB then how did he come out of both the Bengals and Saints game with a higher QB rating than the QB he faced?

No he isn't.

To let the offenes function (this playaction one) he would have to sit in the pocket and make throws downfield. He doesn't do that. If he can get the snap off he looks to check down or scramble.

checking down and running out of the pocket prevents it from functioning.

QB ratings are pointless to a large degree. Again, Clausen had a better QB rating than Brees headed into the 4th. That didn't reflect reality.

not sure what to tell you, but I guarantee if he ran into Peppers, there was a reason for it. If anything, he was often moving too early away from peppers' side.

Not sure what you expect. If he says either of the first two, you bench him right away because he either has no confidence or is a jerk and is not a team player. Would it have been nice to have him say "yeah I missed him"? Sure. I think he actually said something pretty close to that, but without listening to it again I could be wrong. I think "There was a miscommunication or I threw the ball to the wrong place" or whatever it was he said is about as good as you can get for taking quite a bit of the blame for fuging up.

You were asking about his last drive, anyway, not how he missed Lafell. Which he shouldn't have done, I agree. Nobody is defending his play in that game, just saying Moore has done pretty terrible a well this year.

How can you judge a first year starter after 1.75 games but you can't judge another one off of nearly twice as much game time.

Even when Moore was a rookie, he didn't look this bad. So those rookie comments don't hold that much weight.
