How can anyone justify Moore over Clausen at this point?

After being bombarded by picks for 13 games in 2009 and the first 2 of 2010, I'm OK with punts as long as we start moving the ball again like vs. New Orleans. That was our best game of the year, and it came with...Clausen at QB...still the only one of the two to have a turnover-free game.

Right, so how many games has Moore won with that higher PPG rating since he was named the starter?

How many picks has Clausen thrown in the end zone?

How many times has Clausen thrown a pass into the Endzone?

Hell, how many times has Clausen thrown a pass on a drive that got us into the red zone? You can't even count the first drive of the Bears game because we handed it off everytime.

Moore put up 14.29 points per game (25 points/1.75 games) and played by far his worst football of his career.

Clausen puts up 8.31 points per game (27 points/3.25 games) and hasn't shown he can play much better.

If you really like watching 3 and outs so much and only score when the defense gives you the ball in FG position or the opposing defense forgets to cover a player, you have more problems than I initially thought.

The season is lost

If you want anybody to take up that punishment, you shouldn't want your rookie to take it. Thats retarded. Like starting a QB after a concussion. Half of yall went out of your way to get Clausen in there. You celebrated... now its a good chance he's coming out yall acting like its the end of the world

If you really like hearing "1st and goal...Moore....intercepted!" you have more problems than you initially thought he had.

We need WR's that can get open, Clausen had time - didn't have open receivers.

Reports from people that aren't Clausen homers said there were plenty of people open downfield but Clausen doesn't have the guts to even hit an open guy downfield.

I think he threw it out of bounds so much because that was where Goodson was.

Because God knows you're not a Moore homer.

So what if he throws picks and completes 1 of 3 passes to a Panther and 1 of 3 to a DB...he's awesome, right?

Clausen doesn't throw to receivers who are not open, Moore does. Sometimes you do more by doing nothing... I'd rather go 3 and out than turn the ball over while throwing into coverage.

Clausen doesn't throw to WRs downfield....he only looks to make plays when he scrambles out of the pocket. Doing so prevents him from even going to the designed plays and forces WRs just scramble.

Moore had 34 quarters of solid Panther QB play....and 5 bad ones as the Panther QB. All 5 of his were lumped together. Unfair for people to continue to claim the last 5 is what Moore really is.

Clausen can't handle basics. Moore can. Sometimes a high risk/high reward QB is your best option. That is Moore. What Clausen is doing isn't playing smart....like so many blind Clausen guys keep saying. He is lost. He isn't turning the ball over b/c he simply isn't being a QB in this offense. He bails out of what is asked. Checking down and not going downfield prevents the core of what we do from developing...it is not what this offense is about. In Fox's offense a QB has to let his players try to make some plays downfield. No doubt Moore needs to be smarter when he goes to the air.....but just like all camp as it was reported Moore is ahead of Clausen. Until Clausen can handle basics of the position here he as a waste on the field.

So let me get this straight, Moore is by far the worst QB ever because he has turned it over to start the year.

What does that say when this turnover machine puts up more points than the golden boy?

It says Steve Smith broke free for 2 TD's. If Clausen doesn't get credit for the Stewart TD, Smith deserves all credit for his against TB...so on that note we have what...1 TD and 6 picks for Moore vs 0 TD and 3 for JC...yeah, Moore is clearly better.

Yes, the goal is to score points...

Here's why Moore isn't the better QB. Bear with me, because these stats could be wrong because I was just copying/pasting drive charts:

Moore:

Total Drives: 23 (Yes, including garbage time)

Total Points: 23

Points per drive: 1

Total Yards:447

Yards Per Drive: 19.43

Turnovers Per Drive: .39 (LOL)

Clausen:

Total Drives: 37

Total Points: 30

Points per drive: .81

Total Yards:677

Yards Per Drive: 18.3

Turnovers Per Drive: .16

IF those are right, you'll see how "close" they are. If you go by a criteria like drives at or > 40 yards, you'll see Moore does a bit better, but most of that is from Game 1 against the Giants, nothing since really save for the one throw to Smitty. IF You are concerned with turnovers (if we're really a ball control O, we should be), you can see why Clausen should start. IF your only priority is to score points, well, at least Moore gives you slightly more points per drive!

edit: btw, I didn't include the Safety to Moore - if I did, it'd adjust his points per drive slightly over 1 :P

So you would rather see Moore drive to the redzone and then turn the ball over?

In those stats (which you just finished telling me didn't mean much) you have to account for the fact that Moore had Smith on the field for all those plays, has been in this offense for several years, is not a rookie and took 70% of the snaps in mini-camp, OTA's and TC.

If we are going to have a QB that plays like a rookie, I feel better knowing the QB is a rookie with allot of potential upside. Something changes when you name a guy the starter, Moore demonstrated that he could not handle that pressure... so now we're giving Clausen a shot.

It's pointless telling them anything, like talking to a wall. If JC has 225 2 TD vs. SF they'll be saying they knew he was better all along.
