This doesn't even sound like Richardson...

You're right. We never should logically get upset about a football game.

Nor should I get upset if someone robs me at gun point... it's just money. I'll make more.

Nor should I get upset if someone breaks into my house and trashes it... I can fix it up.

Nor should I get upset if someone smashes my car with a sledgehammer... it's just a car. I can buy another.

Nor should I get upset if someone wants to cut my nuts off... I can get testosterone treatments and still grow facial hair.

We can just sit around a campfire man, and sing kumbaya. It doesn't matter if the Panthers suck. It's just football.

All those are extreme instances where something tramatic happend, with possible sevre consqunces.

Losing a football game is not tramatic nor extreme. What would be the point of me geeting upset about it?

Really?

Yeah, and all those restaurants were on their way down the tubes. Did you go to a Quincy's, Hardees or Denny's in the 90's? They were horrible. The food was awful, the interiors dirty, the staff were uncourteous.

Every major chain he worked with either went under or had to be sold off.

Or maybe it's just that Jerry owes much of his success to the NFL as an organization. He respects the league and above his own franchise that has made him who he is today, upholds what the NFL has established as "in their best interest." Without the NFL, there is no Carolina, might he think to give back to a business that granted him with an expansion franchise some years ago? Doesn't seem too senile to me. Mr. Richardson handles his franchise and business with class and ethics. Whether we as fans can admit it or not, the league's well-being, to Richardson, is more important than winning at the current time. All teams rebuild, some overhaul when economics call for it.

Panther fans, patience would do us all some good. I've never been more excited for this team, somehow...

it's like you echoed whats in my head!

Complain all you want. It's your right. It's just sounds stupid to make the argument that since you paid for it, it should be better. If it sucks in your opinion, stay home.

WTF did you guys expect this year anyway? Seriously? I know we all hope and pray and skew the camp reports to give us more hope but this team is young and only talented in spots. It is not realistic to believe we would make the playoffs this season. Getting mad about it every Monday when you know it is coming just baffles me.

You sound pretty angry yourself. And it IS Monday... :D

As for me, I expected pretty much what we're getting. Not really outraged or angry. A little embarrassed to see the team playing like they are on national TV, maybe.

Either way, I don't see how it is stupid for someone to expect a decent product on the field who paid several thousand bucks just for the right to buy season tickets (which can cost another wad of cash, btw). Should they expect to see poor seasons, sure. But given the moves that led to the season we are having, I think they have a right to complain - and it not be stupid to do so.

Oh, and fwiw, I am NOT a PSL owner, but I play one on TV

You're wrong, and you don't understand business. Obviously. When Mr. Richardson left, the company was thriving.

Child, I've lived in Charlotte for 28 years. I'm not making this stuff up. All the restaurants you quoted sucked.

I remember the last time I went to Quincy's was in 1994, and there was food laying on the floor from the time we walked in to the time we left. The service was terrible. Even the yeast rolls were stale.

Sperry's reference to brand damage recalls what industry veterans saw as a dramatic and sustained shift in management focus at Quincy's parent organization in the early 1990s. They say its orientation changed from guest satisfaction to creditor and shareholder appeasement following a series of highly leveraged refinancing deals that ultimately plunged the company into Chapter 11 reorganization.

Denny's was even worse. I went to work for a cable company in 1992, working 3rd shift. The only place open at night was Denny's. It was terrible. Like Quincy's but with even more rude waitresses.

Hardees was a joke from about 1990 to 2005. In fact, they closed every location in Charlotte before 2001.

Actually, it wasn't. The company and its subsidiary, Denny's, was under several class action lawsuits for alleged racism, and was smothered in debt. Flagstar lost $55.2 million on revenues of $2.6 billion in 1995, and Denny's alone had paid out $54 million in settlements stemming from incidents based while Richardson was at the helm.

To his credit, Richardson did eventually attempt to address the problems with the lack of diversity at Denny's, and the parent company, Flagstar.

Here's an article, from 1996... not long after JR left Flagstar, that will give you an idea of how Flagstar was, and had been doing

Wouldn't be talking about yourself would you?

Seriously. WTF do you expect people to say?

"Oh... it's ok. The Panthers can suck. It's just means we will have a better draft next year!"

Here's a reality check for you... most people see us this way:

If you're calling him out for his join date, I would ask you to try to find anyone here who registered prior to November 2008. Might take you a while.
