Do whats right....trade Steve(n) Smith...

Awesomeness!!

First of all if Steve were to come out today and say he wanted to be traded people would hit the fan and react the same if not worse to how they reacted to Peppers. No one would want him to win sh*t.

Second I'm as pissed as everyone else at our subpar playing, decision making an management but I honestly refuse to be believe that everyone has just completely given up on this team. Whether it's Fox, Hurney, or Richardson someone still cares about winning and bringing Charlotte a championship. By trading Steve Smith to a "contender" it's just saying this team sucks, and we're going to suck for a while.

Also whose to say the team we trade him to will actually even go to the Superbowl. We've been Sports Illustrateds NFC Superbowl picks twice one of those times we didnt even make the playoffs. Hell I just looked it up in week five of 2008 we were the number 7th ranked team in the NFL, we were certainly contenders, then we employed in the playoffs and the ship has been sinking ever since.

Steve has built a family here he has ties to the community he even does internships here. He's been here virtually his entire adult life and his kids have grown up here we took him from a third rounder to a star, there's a chance on other rosters he would have languished for years and never received the chance he did here and that might mean alot to him. Steve still has a chance to win here he's only 31.

I don't like that "trade him to a team where he can win a ring" stuff. what if he's sent to a team that ends up like us? we did go from winning the NFC south to finishing the next 8-8 and missing the playoffs, and now this disaster of a season. the only thing that would accomplish is setting our team back years.

did anyone expect the Chiefs to play the way they're playing this season after being awful last season? the Dolphins went from winning one game to winning the AFC East and making the playoffs. the Packers were awful in Rodgers first season too.

you don't trade star players unless you have someone proven and waiting on the bench ready to start, which we obviously don't at wide receiver.

Pretty much.

You're not going to get any value for Smith given his age and injury situation.

No one knows who's going to win the Super Bowl, so trading him "where he can get a ring" is just a shot in the dark.

Any GM that traded away a player "so he could get a ring somewhere else" would be justifiably laughed out of the league.

Bottom Line: You don't trade a player away unless it's to your advantage to do so. This whole "trade Smith so he can get a ring with someone else" idea is just plain stupid. This is the real world, not Madden.

Randy Moss got a third round pick. A 31 year old Steve Smith who is injury prone and makes bad judgement calls and is open about not being the best teacher/mentor is not going to get us more or equal to his worth on our team.

Randy Moss was worth less because he was in his last year of his contract.

Whoever would get Smitty would be getting him for the remainder of the contract...not just a 12 week use like Moss.
