For all of you who hate everybody on this team...

There are like, 8 threads concerning Lafell, Gettis, Clausen, etc. and the business decisions of JR. While I can agree that JR has made some questionable decisions heading into this season and we are really bad...what did you expect?

Clausen, Lafell, Gettis, Edwards, they are ROOKIES! Did we expect them to look like they are NFL ready from day 1? Yes, they are professionals and should play better. But it takes time. Clausen played a terrible game. And I sighed in relief seeing Moore out there. Edwards has to look that ball in. He has to transition to the position and learn to watch the ball all the way into his hands and tuck it before he looks up. It will come with time. Moore didn't look much better. The passes he completed were gimmes due to 3 and 4 deep coverages on the Bears part on the last drive. Chill out.

The only thing I expected Jimmy to do was complete a few passes and manage the game from the time he was named starter. 3rd and 6 on the first drive, we run the ball. Why not pass it? Sure, Fox doesn't have faith in the passing game because it has been horrid for a couple years. But oh well. You have to pass there. 7 straight runs on the first drive. Worked well. Williams had some nice gains. But you can't just run the ball the whole drive when its close and pass the ball the whole time when playing catch up in the 2nd or 3rd quarter.

This is a TEAM. You can't blame any one player. They all are playing like poo. It is what it is. Fox needs to fired, Meeks needs to be promoted to HC, and we need to just try to be competitive.

I look forward to seeing this young, inexperienced team improve. I have no expectations but some improvement week in and week out. Stop pissing and moaning about Clausen and the receivers after every game. Give them time and a chance.

That being said, Clausen needs to start the rest of the year. Moore has impressed me just as much as Clausen...not a lot.

This is only the 2nd game this season where I was incredibly pissed by the end of it. The previous games, I had felt like we had a chance, and I had seen things about our rookies I liked. This game pissed me off all around. I can't even describe how angry a lot of it made me. Terrible play all around.

Clausen just does not seem even close to comfortable out there. Today's game seemed like the total opposite of what I expected of him.

I agree you can't really bench him. This season is effectively over, and starting Moore (who throws too many passes to the other team) would be a mistake.

Gettis, at least, looked pretty good... We'll see how things go.

You got it.

How many games do they get?

A whole season. You can't write a player off after 5 games in their NFL career. Give them a season and a whole preseason to train and get better. If it is the same story next year, we start looking at other options. If there is noticeable improvement, we see where each player's ceiling is.

I follow you on this. Stupid mistakes by everybody. Dropped passes. False starts. Pass interference calls. Losing grip of a damn handoff. Fumbling ANOTHER snap. Everybody screwed up today. The only bright spot was the defense in the second half of the 1st quarter through the rest of the game. Special teams is still shitty.

That's a long time but OK

On most teams, you have a couple rookies starting. Not an entire offense. This is the big thing. You expect rookie mistakes, but when your entire team is made up of them, there are a lot of mistakes being made.

It's clear how much that hurt us today. Our offense can only get better... I hope. =(

What, you want to cut ties with all the rookies after the season, just to have to replace them with other rookies and free agents? Yeah, that's a sure sign that we will get better. You hang on to them until at least the trade deadline next season. In the mean time, pick up a big name WR in the draft who can be here for years and be our big threat after Smitty retires/leaves.

Exactly. It's not as though we are fraught with experience on offense.

Let's say that most of our rookies don't turn into instant sensations. In that case, I think our next Coach needs to make sure he gets our vets resigned, he brings in a bunch of veterans and FAs to compete in training camp, and see what comes of it.

I think you're right that you can't just throw all the rookies out now. Our big problem is we have NO other options. We had no other choice but to go with our rookies this week at WR, and it really hurt us IMO.

I just hope Smitty gets better soon. He and Clausen need chemistry or it'll be bad.

I'm glad you started this thread... Although I like fox, and dont want him to go. I agree that so many "fans" on this board are so quick to judge these players, ROOKIES at that! That LaFell thread... I don't think I read one post that was positive. Rookies make mistakes, it takes time for the game to slow down for them, they aren't a number one draft choice they shouldn't be excpected to come in and dominate defences! Even the first rounders don't come in and immediately excel in the NFL. Two or three year down the line if these guys are still having the same production in games, then it would be reasonable to critisize them.

Fans are supose to suport the team through thick and thin, a few rookies make a few rookie mistake and they are consided a bust and a waste of a draft pick? That they should be automatically cut? Come on! I sure hope none of the players get on here and read what ya'll post, knowing their own fans aren't even behind them. Its a young team, alot of new faces, with alot of guys never playing with the guy in the huddle next to him. They will come together as a team at some point this year.
