It had been reported previously that McCoy didn't see the need to mess with a QBs mechanics (it was in regard to a discussion of David Carr's sidearm delivery).

Holding the Ball low is the biggest problem. Also our PA fakes are piss poor. Just some things we need to work on. Its ok to extend plays as long as your smart about it and Jake was not all that Smart about it this year.

saw this from the Brown's website. looks like he is one of these guys making a solid upward climb. no setbacks i can see other than having the misfortune of being stuck with the browns miserable last season which was going to be miserable no matter what.

Last season, Scherer worked with Derek Anderson, who was named to his first Pro Bowl following a breakout season as Anderson threw for 3,787 yards and 29 touchdowns and propelled the Browns offense which ranked eighth in the league in scoring and yards per game.

Scherer joined the Browns in 2005 with over 30 years of coaching experience at the collegiate level. Prior to joining the Browns, Scherer spent two seasons (2003-04) as the offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach at the University of Southern Mississippi after serving as co-offensive coordinator at University of Kansas in 2001.

Scherer was the head coach at James Madison University from 1991-94, and during that time the team set or tied over 140 school records. While Scherer served as the head coach at University of Memphis (1995-00), the club registered the first and only victory over the University of Tennessee in school history.

Scherer was also the offensive coordinator at University of Arizona (1989-90), University of Alabama (1987) and Georgia Tech (1981, 1986). He also served as assistant athletic director at Georgia Tech in 1985 and director of football operations at Arizona in 1988.

Scherer started his coaching career as a graduate assistant under legendary coach Joe Paterno at Penn State University in 1974 and went on to coach quarterbacks at North Carolina State University (1976), running backs at the University of Hawaii (1977-78) and quarterbacks at University of Virginia (1979).

Scherer was a three-year letterman at College of William and Mary from 1970-74, where he played quarterback. Born Aug. 3, 1952, Scherer and his wife, Michele, have three children: Scott, Melanie and Ryan.

I hope he can help our QBs. Delhomme is usually "on the money" in the playoffs as a veteran. I still can't believe he threw 5 interceptions. :frown2:

Anything that actually helps Jake and his mechanics will be a plus. I've been saying since jake arrived that he hasn't progressed as a QB because of his flawed mechanics...poor play/action execution, too few pump fakes, etc. I think this is a good move..
