Back off the rookies.

Gettis is just as much a rookie as LaFell. I agree that he is playing better, and should be our #2. The only thing you're suggesting is to start Moore over Clausen. That only adds value if you think Moore is the future. If not, then every snap he gets is a waste of a learning experience for Clausen. Plus, Clausen and Gettis have shown some chemistry with each other. Getting them more experience together can be very valuable next year.

that is the thing, I am not so concerned about defining some as "the future". Our future QB will naturally evolve.

best option for a win now should be on the field. If we already had a new HC then I wouldn't mind just throwing Clausen out there....in addition to QB being such a hit or miss position not knowing what the next HC wants adds another wrinkle.

Clausen just hasn't shown enough to keep him out there getting "experience". He doesn't look ready to be getting first hand learning experience yet. You can ruin a young QB.

I love we have so many no miss NFL scouts here on the huddle. If only they could get jobs for the Panthers we would never miss a draft pick!

That's kind of the point of this forum. Play Monday morning QB, coach, GM and scout.

Plus I'm good at it.

Back to the point...certainly you can find some rookies on crap teams who are showing moments of brilliance?

I can think of a bunch offhand. I'll name some if you want

Not superstars day one but a few good games already.

our rookies have none. 0 bright spots.

the NFL moves quick

The one rookie who truely deserves to be bashed is Lafell. Catching the football is the main priority of being a receiver. It doesnt matter if he's a rookie or not. Nothing changes from pee wee league to the NFL as far as the fundamentals of catching a football is concerned. You either got the hands or you dont. And Lafell doesnt.

The only people using the rookie excuse are fans on message boards.

Don't hear the coaches using the rookie excuse, don't hear the network guys using it in the middle of the highlight reels, don't hear the players using it, nobody's using it on the NFL network..... seems the only place I'm reading about it is here.

not sure what you mean... they said several times that a lot of today's mistakes were clearly due to the number of rookies we have... when pointing out clausen's flaws, they stated how common they are for rookies and how much better they'll get in time... so no, Anybodyhome, I don't think we're the only ones with "rookie excuses."

I think the majority of people expect WAY too much from rookies. These guys are 21-22 years old being asked to be the man at their position from practically day 1 of their careers. If anything, in a few years they will have been through everything and will be better off in the long run. or at least i hope so...

well, bad hands got him drafted into the NFL.

that was the thing about the pick....a WR isn't going to suddenly learn how to have good hands once he plays with tougher competition.

Do the current standings have an asterisk next to Carolina's W-L record so as to let everyone know it's because the team has a lot of rookies in the starting lineup?

Because Carolina has so many rookies and they're expected to make a ton of mistakes, should they be spotted about 10 points at the opening kickoff?

Tell me exactly how you use the rookie excuse to make yourself feel better about a bad football team playing bad football?
