It keeps getting worse

The Chicago Bears did everything but send out engraved invitations that read: "Please join us, for a season-reviving win."

The Carolina Panthers forgot to RSVP.

Thanks to one of the most ridiculous offensive performances in franchise history, the Panthers lost 20-6 to the Bears Sunday at Bank of America Stadium.

Jimmy Clausen completed 9-of-22 passes for 61 yards, with an interception and a fumble, for a passer rating of 29.7. He was pulled late in the fourth for Matt Moore, who came in and threw a pick of his own.

Amazingly, there were worse performances.

Bears QB Todd Collins threw four picks, and left in the third quarter with a 6.3 rating.

The Bears did all their damage in the first quarter with a perfect-storm start that included an interception by Julius Peppers.

It was enough, because the Panthers couldn't sustain anything when they had the ball.

That drops them to 0-5 on the season heading into next week's bye.

So they've got that going for them.
