Official Peppers - Panthers Geamday Thread....

tbh, if our D plays like this through the rest of the game, we may be able to make this a close game...

I doubt that. Our offense all season has followed just about every (maybe every one, I am not sure) turnover or 3 and out by giving the ball right back.

Well Moore was even worse this year, so unless we wanna put Armanti back there and tell him to just make something happen, I don't know what other options we have. Unless Tony Pike is some mysterious secret weapon we've been holding on to for the exact perfect time (today's second half).

Moore was not worse. How do Clausen homers continue to say that??? Sure, Moore thrrew a couple picks. Moore can handle a snap, Moore can actually sell a playaction, Moore is willing to at least look downfield.......

Moore wasn't great. He laid an egg week 1. Moore's short career has been miles better than where Clausen is CURRENTLY at. Lying to yourself isn't going to make Clasuen better today.

They both are looking average at best just the difference is Moore is a 4 year guy and Clausen is a rookie. IMO you give the rookie the experience knowing Moore is not going to do much better than what a rook is doing. What's the point in debating who's looked better when they both have struggled?

If I acknowledge the fact that Moore was awful this year I'm a Clausen homer? Even though everyone with a functioning brain pointed that out during Moore's time behind center this year? Why do people think a guy who has throw more interceptions in less attempts with a lower completion percentage than the guy we have out there now is going to come in and turn into Tom Brady? Clausen has been bad, but Moore has been bad also. One of those guys was drafted to be our franchise quarterback. That is the guy you have to take your lumps with unless you have a proven, BETTER option behind him. We don't.

Moore played poorly in two games. Moore can handle a snap, but I'm pretty sure he still lost a fumble or two in his starts. He doesn't sell playaction all that well, and the idea that Clausen doesn't look downfield is ridiculous considering he has had multiple throws of 20 yards this game - and that's the most time our OL gives him.

Moore took more risks I think, and his stats reflect that. He also had a healthy smith and a good chemistry with him. I hope Jimmy gets to that point.

I think that it may have been too early to start Clausen a few games ago, but at this point, taking him out won't help the situation... doesn't mean Fox won't do it, but yeah.

edit: note I said throws, not completions =(

It'd be a mistake to put Moore in.

At least Clausen will give us a chance.

pending what you want to talk about, putting Moore in could be a mistake.

if you want to talk about having a chance to win.....Moore gives us a better chance. Moore had a horrible day. Moore has proven something in the NFL. Moore can do some of the basics in this offense. Jimmy has only proven he isn't ready to even be on the field. Only think Jimmy does is scramble, checkdown, and completely screw up. Moore at least mixes in some positive w/ his negative....always has.

    • That's part of being patient too. Not rushing players into roles they aren't ready for. Make them earn it. If you convince yourself that "so and so" needs to start because they were a first round pick, even though they have done nothing to earn it, you have set up both team and player for failure. You can convince yourself all day long that "there is no substitute for game experience" but if the guy can't do his job in practice, he can't do it in a game. Not consistently, anyway.  Teams like the Steelers, the Ravens and the Packers ROUTINELY bench rookies to start off with and no one bats an eyelash. Even if the team is losing. Because that's what they do. They have set the precedent. The players have to show they are ready. Then they get their chance.
    • Let me provide you with some food for thought. Before this "now era" of the NFL, QBs were allowed time to develop. Everyone from the GM to the fans had more patience. QBs were simply better in the old because they were afforded the time to sit, observe and learn. It's no wonder that guys we threw away, or simply didn't want, have had varying degrees of success elsewhere.  Some Huddlers were talking crazy about Jordan Love and Lamar Jackson---just crazy...
    • I think the JAG debates are largely people having vastly different definitions of JAG.  The OG JAG LB debate was James Anderson.  And James Anderson is probably going to be ahead of Shaq on my alltime LB list (it's really close though).
