John Fox Last Weekend as Coach

I don't think playcalling is that poor. They've put Jimmy in the shotgun quite a few times (smart IMO). I actually think the use of Goodson on third downs and as a reciever is a good thing. Execution of that play calling on the other hand is terrible.

They're both bad, but Fox being the fall guy for every problem on this team is a little short sighted

I agree. I think that the execution of the play-calling is what's killing us. INTs in the Red Zone (Here's looking at you, Mr. Moore), players not picking up the right blitzes, etc. It's all boiling down to execution, at this point.

Yeah.

We're in the Giants game until Moore has his melt down, and our defense get's soft.

Tampa game is another turnover marred game. Offensive playcalling was very poor.

Cincinatti: Turnovers. Say Stewart holds onto the ball at midfield. I think we win.

New Orleans: Probably the most complete game. Deangelo trip up cost us a chance.

He's the head coach poorly leading a winless team. Almost everything bad about this season lays solely on the head coach. And the owner can't be fired so....

I understand what you're saying, but what good does it do this team to fire him now?

At least he has this team playing hard. Fox has always had his teams playing hard.

I think Fox will be, and should be, fired at the end of the season. But he's had a successful enough career here in Carolina that he should at least be allowed to finish what he started.

The way I want to see him fired is after the season, in a press conference where JR states the team is going in a different direction. Not over a bye week when we're 0-5. I think he's earned that much.

I don't think it would be JR doing the firing. By all accounts JR isn't a micromanger. Hurney will be the one to fire Fox. If Hurney wants to save his job if he team is looking at multiple blackout down the road firing Fox would make sense.

Wow, I would have thought the exact opposite- after all, Richardson fired his own sons. If he fired his own flesh and blood, he can and would certainly fire anybody else.

Firing a coach mid season and then looking outside the organization for his replacement just doesn't happen.

If Fox is fired after this week then one of the assistants will step in on an interim basis.

IF, and that's a BIG IF! Fox gets fired, it will be an assistant coach already on the team. JR isn't going to pay Fox and another head coach at the same time!

I maybe wrong, but I think Meeks filled in as the COLTS interim HC once upon a time. I don't remember how long Ron with with the COLTS. I want to say it was for one game when Dungy's Son committed suicide. (But I could be mistaken.)

JR won't fire Fox mid season. They both knew what was going to happen this season. JR was fine w/ Fox stumbling through this season and Carolina not putting up wins as long as they young guys played.

A percetnage of the fanbase may be surprised but what is occuring. Not everyone is. Fox knew when they took his vets and didn't let him bring vets in to patch things like most teams....what was going to happen.

I would hope that JR wouldn't allow hurney to fire any richardson.

That being said, richardson allows hurney to handle the football sides of things.

I know that is a difficult thing to grasp.

What does firing family have anything to do with the football side of the franchise. Specially since the sons never had any influence over that side of the franchise.

It doesn't.

There have been whispers that this may be the last game coached by John Fox if the Panthers head to the bye with an 0-5 record. If this is really the last time we are going to see foxy and the last time we can post anything about FIREJOHNFOX or make some lame avatar, I just want to say thanks for the memories old man.

If it turns out that THIS is the weekend where he gets fired, I hope he goes out in style by making the last play of the game a RUN UP THE MIDDLE or a THIRD AND DRAW. That would be the way to go out.

Sorry its early, tired of reading stupid crap about burning jerseys and who sits with me to drink and watch the games...nobody cares.[/QUOTE]

oh yeah........we'd much rather read interesting post such as yours. :D
