Armanti Edwards has sea legs for first Carolina Panthers game

Not having his "legs" means that all the running he has been doing, while getting in better shape and condition, has taken away some of his explosive burst. The only way to get them back is to rest.

This is the same reason why towards the end of the season, coaches' will give more days off.

It doesn't mean he is lazy by any means, actually quite the contrary. It means he has been busting his ass trying to get into shape.

It amazes me that so many people believe he is going to suck because he hasn't learned to play receiver on an NFL level yet. You same assholes gave Dwayne Jarrett 3 years and you won't give Armanti 3 months. I have the feeling, he is going to make some of you look like retards. And I may be the one who looks retarded, but we probably wont know this season.

This is coming from an "App Homer", and I guess I am one because I am one of the few that actually has seen him play and know what kind of athleticism he really has.

What is really going to be awesome is when he drops a few balls... and yall are going to be screaming how terrible he is, but when Jimmy Clausen throws a few picks or fumbles, "Jimmy is developing", "He is just learning like other Rookie QBs". Even when Jimmy was "The most NFL ready" and Armanti is changing positions and taking a huge leap in week to week talent".

Hey look, a Panthers "fan" who changed his forum avatar to a Colts logo in week 2...

You can expect there to be a Chiefs logo as his avatar and a "GO MATT CASSEL. YOU R TEH GOD" personal text after this Sunday.

On the note of Armanti Edwards, Hurney busts, etc., can someone name me the so-called "huge busts" Hurney has gone through? Jarrett and Shelton? So what? What team hasn't missed on two second rounders before?

How many other teams are going to be playing 3 sixth rounders in a game Sunday? Yeah, real horrible job of drafting.

I agree, but at the same time we are 0-4 ;)

I always said that I will give him one year before calling him a bust. If by next year's preseason he doesn't start to tear up the ST with his pun returns or catching those WR screen passes, I will start to bitch and curse

Jarrett got four years. How about we give the kid at least one game?

Thats a good point. I think LaFell losing the number 2 spot to Gettis is more suprising than Armanti not playing so far.

I don't understand all the Bust talk for a guy who was just drafted. It's rare for a rookie WR to show very much as all much less one that is switching positions.

Fans are so fickle. After he catches his first touchdown pass people will be saying he's already the next Steve Smith. The fact is he's going to take time to figure out if he's a good or bad NFL players. There is no way to know yet except based on the potential he may show in practice and the qualities the coaches saw in him that made them draft him.

And people can complain about where we drafted him but the Panthers obviously had a 2nd round grade on the guy and thought he was worth the picks. The fact is the Panthers don't go by your draft board or ESPNs. Hurney has pulled the trigger more than once on trading previous years picks. Worked out like a dream when we got Otah and Stewart. Jury is still out on E. Brown but that pick isn't looking as good as the Otah one. The Edwards one? Nobody knows!!!

Losing his legs means he's getting tired from the type of running an NFL receiver has to do. His body is not used to it. It's not necessarily the amount. He could have run 15 miles a day and it wouldn't have made a difference. He needs to run and condition his body and muscles to the rigors of the NFL. It's not about being in shape. You can take an NFL player and put him in a boxing ring for a few rounds and the next day he'll be sore in places he didn't know he had. Their bodies are not conditioned for boxing. Edwards isn't conditioned for playing NFL wide receiver. Look at the physical transformation and ability for rookies to their 2nd year. It's a huge jump and part of that is their bodies have a year of experience.

The only reason we're screwed with these guys is because they have no one there to take them under the wing and teach them how to read defenses and adjust your routes.

In college they don't teach you those things. Run your route and be athletic.

Steve's not gonna do it. The only other veteran we have is Clowney. Jeez

Isn't that what people like Coach Tolbert, Davidson, Magazu, Skipper, Meeks, Rodgers, and even Fox are for? I mean, they are COACHES.

I think people put too much stock into the veteran-to-rookie ratio on a team. Does it help? Probably. Is it a death blow without it? No.

Tyke Tolbert???

He isn't old and can still run the routes to show and teach.
