Armanti Edwards has sea legs for first Carolina Panthers game

I'm pretty sure Hurney said that he thinks by next year he would be worth what they gave up for him. So saying that the Panthers organization was not expecting Armanti to develop at this pace is dumb. Yeah it's a big gamble. I'm actually glad that a lot of people on here are giving up on him so fast...these are probably the same people that thought Dwayne would be a great wide reciever.

I've been saying Jarrett was garbage for I don't know how long.

The only other 3rd rounder that I remember being this pissed about drafting was Corvey Irvin and look how he turned out.

I just don't think you use a high draft pick (what now looks to be 33-37 overall pick) on a guy changing from QB to WR. Just took risky and too much of a project to sink that high of a pick into. Guys coming from his division also have an inherent higher risk on top of that, due to such weak competition.

I don't hate the guy as a prospect. Maybe he works out, maybe he doesn't, but it just seems WAY too risky to invest what we have. Where that 2nd rounder will be you should be getting 1st round talent. Guys that can often step in day one and be impact players.

I originally viewed him as a late round (5th or 6th) project with a good amount of upside. I wouldn't have been mad to see us take him there, but even then there were guys late that I would have rather taken. Just my take on it.

You know this how? Morrison doesn't take any part in drafting or scouting. His job literally has nothing to do with personnel moves. Jesus, people just pull crap out of their ass and post it as fact.

Its an opinion. Strange things happened this off season. You think it was Fox's/Hurneys idea to dump all the veterans and run things on a "budget". I wouldn't be surprised at all if JR/Morrisom made some draft decisions based on the board the scouts set up.

I'd love to see that quote. I never heard anything that said he was a 2nd year project but maybe you are right

"We think he has the talent to warrant that," Hurney said. "You're talking about him having a year to develop and a year to train at the wide receiver position and returns or however we decide to use him.

"Hopefully in a year we'll see that it was the right thing to do. He has a lot of qualities that make you think he is going to be a very good football player."

I still bet $$ he is an NFL bust but happy to be proven wrong

I just hope he isn't. It would be great if he turned out to be a Julian Edelman type player. A small guy (Edelman: 5'10/198lbs - Edwards: 5'11/181lbs) who was a QB at a small school in college, who became a receiver. A guy who can return kicks and punts, and can work the slot really well.

I would agree that he was a reach. I really believe he may have been around at latter rounds, but who really knows what information the FO found out on other teams looking at him. He may turn into something really special in a few years and would be worth the pick.

Hard to say that when all along he has been considered a project that will be ready by next year. I was as suprised as anybody that he was taken in the 3rd round even after watching him play many times. Still cant say that we took him too high until next year.
