Board started in May 04, and T & A has always been a staple.

Thread derailment has always been a problem.

Face it this site isn't for everybody, and a lot of new people stay engaged for awhile then learn its not for them or lose interest.

Thanks mush, then it was training camp/pre-season in '04 I joined IIRC, so I've been here from pretty much the beginning.

Agreed on T&A, but not to the point that it took over posts in the Panthers section that I can remember.

Thread derailment happens everywhere and anywhere on internet message boards, but I think it is at an all-time high here now. I think it is because of the "cliques" deeming some threads un-worthy b/c the poster isn't one of them, so they kill it... Now, some of those victimized threads deserve it lol, but some aren't given a chance... I just don't remember it happening as much as it has recently.

And I do think some people just outgrow it over time, but I think the condition of the fanbase is a big part of it right now... Not that people leaving the board aren't Panther fans anymore, they just don't like the personality the board has taken on.

I keep trying to remember this one poster's name, I think he was from Raleigh, and his posting style was very Fiz-like, he was a huge contributor to the Panthers forum and often played the "Devil's Advocate" in threads just for the sake of argument - but it never seemed to get out of hand or turn into name-calling/insults. He had an avatar of Yoshii from Mario or some other little green dragon cartoon character, and he still posted for awhile after the server crash and then it was just like he disappeared. It's crazy b/c I'd say he was one of the most frequent posters on here and then you just stop posting? Unless he changed his name??? Idk...

Posters like KaKa are gone, or hardly ever post... The community just seemed a lot tighter back in the day. I just think a lot more of the disinterest can be attributed to the state of the board than the majority are saying and a great deal of it has to be in direct correlation with the attitude the franchise appears to have.

I just have a hard time believing people just lose all interest in sharing and expressing their opinions about their favorite team with other fans altogether, b/c to my knowledge there aren't many quality Panther boards, period, so where else would they go? Even as irritated as I've gotten with some people here, I chalk it up for what it is - the internet, and I always come back b/c more than not there's a quality discussion to be had. I'm just saying there's more of the non-quality discussions and activities going on now than there ever has been before IMO.

KaKa is Cat now.....posts several days/week.

The poster from Raleigh you speak of my wife helped him get a job with a bank there. For a long time he was unemployed which can affect your outlook on everything.

The combined intellectual wealth of the Huddle changes over time, up and down. many posters lose interest during times like this, more frustrated ones need a place to vent and this is it. It's what we do.

Where can I fill out an application? I'm currently clique-less. Oh well, loner=bad ass. On the internet, maybe not so much... But, I can just grow a mullet to compensate.

I cant even post without a group of idiots using the thread to "focus" on me and not the topic. I know I piss a lot of people off on here, screw it, I'm honest...

But it gets old when you wish to talk football and assholes are more concerned about internet glory thatn discussing the topic...

This board is over its prime.....
