I've been on this site longer than just about anybody else here. This site wasn't even a year old when posts like this started. It's always the same schtick. Board is different, dumb posters, I don't know anybody, noobs, not the same, new posters don't know me, not talkative....etc. I hear people say the same thing about coming to the tailgate too: I don't know anybody there, the new people are worse than the old users, etc.

But carolinahuddle just keeps doing what it does. It provides a voice for Panthers fans. It is brutally honest. There have always been a contingent of sub-par IQ posters. Anybody with a computer can log on. There are always new ones coming onboard. It's a constant turnover. Some get built up on the site and then think too much of themselves. Some get offended when they take a hiatus and come back and their buds aren't on the site and they're not known anymore. You have to make new friends. Such is life. The new friends can be as good as old ones but you have to put in time getting to know them. They are for the most part good people.

The site is very much the same as it ever was.

And most of the people that say some of these things still keep coming back, maybe not post as much, but still keep coming to the board because they know a lot of people and just like to sit back and bitch and whine. Take the time to get to know some of the new people, not dwell on the negativity, and roll with it.

I know he's getting flamed, and I'm not putting it on Zod, but I have to admit, the forum has digressed. Perhaps Kurb is right, the forum reflects the state of the franchise.

I've mentioned that I know I've been here since at least 04, but it may actually have been earlier but I can't remember and have no way of finding out since the server crashed, but I'm almost sure that I was posting here before we played in the Superbowl... Anyway, point being, I've been around awhile, and it has never been this bad.

It's not the "negative" posts, b/c I post what I consider to be fair and objective posts about our team that many here consider negative... But, a lot of others here have posted the same way.

I think the real problem now is the amount of casual football fans and trolls. Even in my earliest days on this board the trolling was of the highest quality. They may have talked sh*t, but they knew football outside of their blind homerism for their team. Now, they're just trolls - spamming posts, irrelevant/weak smack, etc.

The quality posts by the members on this board is at an all-time low as well. And nothing wrong with some T&A, God put it on women for a reason, but we're on the internet, and you can see that anywhere, lol... Point is, there's never been as much T&A pic posts and thread derailments as there is now...

There has been less and less quality football posts - the ones making legitimate/realistic suggestions for the team (playcalls, personnel, etc.), debates about issues currently surrounding the team instead of the now more popular "Player X Sucks Balls. That is all."

I think it's a combo of the progression of the internet and the state of mediocrity our team has endured for 2+ seasons now (some would argue more)...

Why post an intelligent, long, thought out post to spark discussion and thought when you know the first response you get back is going to be a "Cool Story Bro" and then followed by numerous more unfunny, wore-out-their-welcome 4chan postings. It seems the board has followed the lead of local media in terms of there's certain subject that can be discussed and other that can't.

I think reputation has compromised the quality of the board as well... As it has led to some posters forming internet cliques to try and re-create high school glory they never had. Serious. Maybe Pie is fine, but I think REP has hurt the board overall too.

To sum it all up though, I believe this is the longest this fan base has gone through such a lack of success since this board has existed, and thus, I think the acceptance of mediocrity has manifested itself within the fan base - and now it's made its way onto the board. The fan base has subconsciously took on the same personality that our franchise has and it's a "it is what it is" mentality... And people wonder what's wrong with our team...

Board started in May 04, and T & A has always been a staple.

Thread derailment has always been a problem.

Face it this site isn't for everybody, and a lot of new people stay engaged for awhile then learn its not for them or lose interest.
