Verizon 4G coming to Charlotte

It seems to me that Apple hasn't learned much from the PC vs. Mac early days. They did a similar trick with going exclusively with AT&T and forcing consumers to come to them, all the while google went with multiple manufacturers and phone companies and will end up having a much wider base. Now Apple is going to try and play catch-up... I like the competition actually as it keeps the manufacturers on their toes and making better and better models and software.

i don't hate apple a ton. i just resent them, or whoever, for for making me wait so long for something, and then not even delivering it. how many times have they done that now? VZW users kept waiting, and waiting, and then waited some more on the iPhone. Then the droid comes out, and then evolves into what many call a superior phone. Why would I want to switch to apple when i'm happy with what I own. So I can fuss with and get used to their format? no thanks.

I want to see where it is called a superior phone. Almost every review I've seen it is 3rd to the Iphone and Evo.

I feel the same as KK... I like the iPhone fine, but when compared to the Droid X, which I have, I like the X better. I have compared them myself, one of my buds has a brand new iPhone, and I like the X better. I have not played with the Evo, but with the exceptions of some minor tweaks by HTC and Sprint to the OS and the fact that it's on Sprint's 4G network, it is the same as the X. One MAJOR drawback for me is that it's on Sprint... I was a Sprint customer thru 2006 and their service here is HORRIBLE.

No its not. Its HTC which uses Android software, but they are made by different companies.

thats what i've meant all along. sorry for lack of clarity. Droid OS > iPhone OS IMO

there's lots of different models so you can just pick which you like to. HTC, Droid, Samsungs. They are evolving faster than Apple, and releasing more often.

This what i don't get. They are not evolving faster at all. They're just catching up and its still not better yet. They bring a new one out every month and Apple works on theirs and brings it out once a year. Just cause they pump them out like candy doesn't mean they are better. The Incredible is on par with the Iphone 3. How long did that take? And thats a new phone. Just cause they all use the Android software doesn't mean it works as good. OS runs so much smother its unreal. And the clarity on a iphone is insane.

I had them for years too and they used to ass rape me on price. I was too dumb at the time to figure out everyone else was better and cheaper.

so, relatively compared to iphone, they just started releasing the droids and by your statement the incredible is the one that caught up to the 3G. seems like that didn't take very long. X, Samsung's series, and the droid 2 are all post incredible, and better in some ways.

and maybe X isn't as slick as iPhone 4, but the network sure makes it seem so. Is AT&T 4g yet?
