Why was Beason moved to the Outside?

Just trying to make sense here, not poking or prodding... Why exactly was he moved to the outside? Was it in hopes to improve the pass rush for Peppers leaving?... I know he was a beast at MLB and feared him being on the field vs Tampa. Now there isn't too much of a fear of his presence.

Are the Panthers sold on Connor at MLB or what's the deal exactly?

2 reasons

1 - Davis was hurt

2 - When playing the Tampa 2, the plays run through the Will more than the middle.

Thomas Davis was injured and the only positioning that made sense was to move Beason outside so that Connor can play middle, the only position he can really play well.

:yesnod: Yep, Connor's only real position is MLB. Beason has taken a hit in his number of tackles but he is by far the best OLB we have. Plus he played it in college.

Connor doesn't have the speed Beason does...and the injury to Davis forced a move. They had enough issues as strong side LB with the Anderson/etc rotation, that they needed stability in the middle position throughout the year and mobility at the WLB spot. Beason fits that perfectly. If Davis had been there...Beason would be MLB.

Speaking of...Davis was working really hard to get back at the end of the PUP period. Anyone know if he was put on IR or still on PUP?

Yea, I think Beason is a top LB for sure and people laugh when I say he's even a top 3.

I think it's a bit of a stretch to mention Derrick Brooks here with the type of player he was but Beason has potential to do some things for sure.

Why not trade for a LB?

Our linebackers have been solid...about the only part of the team thats been solid. No worries here unless someones sad that Beason won't put up career tackle numbers.

The reason I mentioned DB was in this system you want an athletic playmaker at the Will, so compare Beason to DB. LB has been our most consistent defensive unit this year, and we did trade Harris for Williams.

Its not a complicated puzzle to figure out, although Beas is best suited in the middle.
