What we're seeing right now...

Mr. Scot

Recommended Posts

...is something that long-time Panther fans are not accustomed to, and hence, may not recognize.

That being the normal development of a young quarterback.

Thus far, Jimmy Clausen has looked just like what he is, a rookie. But he's learning. The bad snaps from his first snap weren't there in the second. Likewise, no picks thrown, and that against a good defense. And Clausen himself has said the game is starting to "slow down" for him already (a good sign).

Are there still issues? Yes.

Could he regress a few times? Absolutely; maybe even this weekend.

But the reality is that Clausen is actually looking pretty much like you'd expect a guy at his stage, thrown into the fire earlier than hoped, would look. As a fanbase, we haven't seen much of that (at all). Likely as not, this is why there's so much debate about just how good Clausen really is right now.

As the weeks roll on, I won't be looking for perfection. I'll be looking for signs of improvement, even if they come in baby steps.

It may not come to him as quickly as we might like, but as long as it's getting there, it's good.

And for once, it's nice to be able to watch something some other fanbases are actually used to seeing.

Not many other things may be fun this season, but this part just might be.

we are accustomed to poor coaching. That imo is more glaring than what is occuring with Clausen.

Fox continually proves he can only play football one way. When he doesn't have those pieces he can't adjust.

Yeah, Clausen's a rookie. Yeah, he's playing like a rookie.

But the offense is in more trouble than just the QB position. Our running game is flat. The penetration on the O-line is terrible for protection and blocking. Our play calling has been predictable as usual. Our receivers aren't getting consistent separation.

If they don't get these things under control, Clausen's career could be jeopardized, because he is the leader for a team with no offense. That hangs with a QB like the smell of a skunk.

rookie WRs just aren't gonna get consistant seperation.

until the QB can change what defenses are doing the run game will be flat. The RBs will earn every yard.

So it is fun to have a rookie quarterback and watch him struggle,

Okay then.............................

dumb d dumb DUMB

its fun to watch development. pay attention to positive notes in the game instead of the score, the 3 and outs and the poor playcalling.

like Mr. Scot said. Jimmy has gone from bobbling snaps to throwing a TD.

We are a bad team. We are going to lose a lot more games than we win. Clausen is a rookie and is making mistakes. Clausen is getting better with every snap. It is encouraging that we are at least trying to upgrade the most important position on the football field.

I am a fan.
