smith rumor

It was just repeating what Glazer said, that teams should consider trying to trade for Steve Smith.
should...not could. that was the deal with the whole rumor. glazer broke the moss to vikes deal and then when he said that the pats should try to make a trade for smith the whole planet erupted thinking that the pats could or are making a play for smith.

totally blown out of proportion.

Steve Smith would be my LAST option to trade and I think the reason is fairly obvious:

The Pats just traded Moss for a 3rd round pick. The guy is still probably one of the top 5 WRs in the game based on talent alone. If you ask 32 GMs in the league who they'd rather have (Steve Smith or Randy Moss) I'd say its probably a 2/3 majority for Moss. That means AT BEST we are probably looking at a 4th or 5th round pick for Steve Smith. Now that he is injured...we would essentially be trading him solely to dump a salary which would be the dumbest move the FO could ever make.

Bottom line is that Steve Smith isn't going anywhere. He still has a lot of good football left in him and the value isn't there in a trade. Not to mention we probably have the worst receiving corp in the league without him.

actually I would choose Steve Smith over D-will to be traded. Only problem with that is D-will will get a higher draft pick. Steve smith is starting to play at a declining rate, and his durability is starting to become an issue. Although D-will has a better backup then Steve Smith I think right now D-will is a better lockerroom guy, is more of an elite player if used correctly, and I feel is a better and more complete player than J Stew. Just my opinion tho.
