Talent wise, I don't think we're worse than the 2001 team, but record wise....

lets look at our remaining schedule

Bears at Home: can we win? will probably be a low scoring game, doubt we score more than 10 points which will not be enough. LOSS

49ers at Home: one of our best chances to win and teams don't generally travel east very well. 49ers are going to turn it around at some point though or heads are going to roll. very close game, going to say LOSS but could go either way.

at St. Louis Rams: the way Bradford is playing they'll put up at least 21 against us. yet again we can't score enough points as the defense eventually gives out. LOSS

Saints at Home: LOSS. can't score enough

at Tampa Bay: Another close game, hopefully our offense has figured some things out at this point. Would like to think we can win, should be low scoring. as of now still a LOSS

Baltimore at Home: hell no LOSS

at Cleveland Browns: not if Seneca Wallace is still QB'ing. Thanksgiving, likely to be windy and colder. Good for our running game, may not be much passing involved. We have the better defense. WIN for us.

at Seattle Seahawks: traveling out west, loud for jimmy, not good. LOSS

Atlanta at Home: Windy, cold, hopefully can run well against them. Another possible win but not likely. LOSS

Arizona at Home: Arizona has a worse QB situation than us right now. No running game either. Defense isn't much to talk about and having to travel here? WIN for us

at Pittsburgh Steelers: no LOSS

at Atlanta: last game of the season. does Atlanta have their spot wrapped up in the playoffs? If so win for us. If they are fighting for positioning or out of the playoffs and playing in a straight up game. LOSS

Panthers Record: 2-14

Realistically: between 0-16 / 5-11

likely to catch a few teams sleeping and win a few toss ups. as of now also not impossible to go 0-16

heck we were a D-Will positive yardage play away from lining up for the game winning FG against the Saints in the Superdome.

WE'LL WIN ONE

is this like how we were one 2nd half meltdown against washington from winning 2 in 2001?

i see us more looking like the 2004 version than the 2001 version....not that we'll pull off 7 wins (though we could) but i can see us reaching a point where none of it matters and all of the sudden things turn around and start clicking. we'll get to thinking that we might have a chance to get a wildcard spot only to fall frustratingly short. then we'll realize that we went through that only to get us knocked out of the top 10 picks.

benefit of going winless is it makes any success down the road look amazing and we'd get some really sweet draft picks for our trouble. 7-9 means that fox leaves the panthers the same way he came in and emblematic of his tenure here...mediocre and just short of being relevant.

titans last year went winless for the first 6 games and then finished 8-8. i don't think they were any better than we are this year. it might take a few weeks for the light to come on with clausen but once it does we should be alright. by that time smith will be back and otah will/should be back as well and the oline should have gelled.

even if it doesn't...bright side = good picks in the draft and a new coach and stories to tell my grandkids about how "i was there watching every miserable game of that lousy 2010 season but i hung in there and you can to" or something like that.

i'm good either way.
