Peppers on Panthers: 'It was a little sour'

No real reason to bash Hurney over this. JR's fiery speech to the other owners about taking about their league was in March of this year right after free agency started. His conclusions about the chances of a lockout were probably set. Pretty sure he had instructed Hurney not to make another long term offer and probably to take the old offer off the table.

Hating on Pep is fine, if that suits ya dude. But even if you're totally right and Pep is a turd, it doesn't mean the FO isn't the ass that pooped him.

they should have traded him but at least they'll be getting a 3rd round comp pick for him.

I don't think its that big a deal.

But one thing I don't understand. This year was mostly uncapped, so why not franchise him this year, and then let him go at the end of the season. And tell him straight up what we are doing.

Almost 21 million dollars for a 30 year old with an owner who is already pinching pennies to prepare for no football next year.

Yea, but if the team doesn't win a few, he is going to lose that much due to smaller crowds not buying 8 dollar beers and such.

Sometimes, people making big decisions lack the ability to see the forest for the trees.

I believe this reality is going to set in. I've had PSL owners at my work trying to off-load tickets in the past week, who've had no takers. I also believe we'll have at least one blackout this year.
