The owners broke the union up before over loop holes, why do you think things would be different now if they willing to not renew the old deal. You just mad cause i'm taller than Smitty (5 foot 8) and faster, and will be a scab! My dreams are coming true, as bad as I hate it.

Actually the Union Disbanded on its own. That was the only way they could sue for Free Agency. The Union didnt reform form until 4 years later.

those books have been cooked. i would laugh in the face of anyone who told me that the greenbay packers only made a 10 million dollar profit last year.

that team has its stadium sold out for the next 20 years in advance. they play in a stadium that is 100 years old, so they have avoided costs of stadium building, and they made the playoffs last year, which means that they are selling even more tickets for playoff games, and even more merchandise like jerseys, jackets, cheesehead thingies, etc.

to say that they only had a gross profit of 10 million is a fugging joke.

They also did a major renovation of the stadium a few years ago. Plus if the books where cooked somebody would be going to Jail.

the players would love for this to go to arbitration because if the NFL wanted any chance to win it they'd have to open their books and lol they'll never do that because they'll lose any standing they might have no.

You're right, kind of. Without a union to back the players as a group, the players are then going out of pocket if they want to individually sue the league and its deep pockets. And without a union a player is basically an independent contractor left on an island to fend for himself, don't you think?

Oh, by the way, I'm not supporting management or the players on this one. Like Chris Rock, "I'm not saying..., but I understand," I get the owners side and I'm trying to get the players' side.

It looks like the average profit is around 30M for an NFL franchise. 10M is within reason

The average for an MLB team is 17.4M

(Why isn't the MLB staging a lockout?)

Their situation is a little different because nobody cares about them.

So sad...

Yet so true.

The problem with the NBA is the non-parity. Over the past 30 years there have been the Lakers, the Celtics, the Bulls, and everyone else.

i agree. it is easy for 32 people to stand together on the issue, but a little bit harder for 50 million to get organized...

wouldnt it be awesome though... that if us fans could all stand together and show the owners and the players that they are both wrong, and that it is us fans that are the ones that run this poo.

if us fans didnt buy tickets and merchandise or watch football on TV (taking away ratings from the television networks), than there would be no money for these greedy bastards to argue over.

it is us fans who make the wheels go round, i just wish there was a way we could all stand together, and show the owners that a lockout will not be tolerated, and if they lock us out, we will lock them out.

would be nice, but close to impossible without some type of national media attention. I know one way maybe, let me do some calling around!

I've lived thru a few strikes in pro sports. Not bad once you get used too it. Plus.....the scabs weren't too bad after awhile. It'll all pass in time......no big deal.

ps...all the people screaming about huge profits beinging made by the owners.........just hope ya never bought a bottle of spring water. now there's something to bitch about.
