There will not be scabs or replacement players for this potential situation. The only reason the owners did so in 1987 was because the TV contracts were not guaranteed so they had to play the games to get the TV revenue. Not the case now.

Wouldn't the disbanding of the NFLPA make the lock out a moote point anyway? I'm pretty sure I read that if they disband this could end up as an anti-trust situation.

If the players decertify the NFL won't have a legal foot to stand on irt blocking out the players. they'd open themselves up to a poo ton of anti-trust suits they wouldn't win. keep in mind the nfl loses just about every single time it goes to court because, well, it's a monopoly that doesn't pay its employees well compared to A. other sports leagues and B. what those players make the owners.

The owners only option at that point would be to try to tie this up in court and hope the players break. remember, 79% of nfl players are bankrupt two years after leaving the league.

I understand the point about bankruptcy, but I'd be interested to see their spending habits. No one making more than 1 mil a year should be living paycheck to paycheck.

and like I've posted here numerous times, the average salary of an NFL players is 770,000 dollars. That's before taxes, agents, and lawyers. It's also only three years long.

Boo hoo I know, but you're presenting this as if it's a group of pampered blacks buying bling which simply isn't true.

None of these guys got a "real" education and most of them are from crippling poverty. Yeah they're given a chance for a college degree but you are naive as hell or are being intentionally obtuse if you can suggest that with a straight face.
