Official Peppers bitch/whine thread. And TRADE IDEAS HERE!!!!

Peppers was asked to become the defense's leader last season and responded with a 2 1/2 sack effort. Based on his actions, he's been planning to leave at the end of his contract for a while now. So, in his contract/audition season he gets a career high in sacks. Now he's saying that the reason he's never reached his potential is because the coaching staff hasn't used him right, and he wants to be an OLB in a 3-4 defense. Just look at that in the context of the last two seasons.

Well, lets consider how many ways he's been used since he's been here. Trgovac may not be popular, but his defenses are very complex and show a lot of looks with a lot of different actions for each one. In them, Peppers has lined up at right end and at left end. He's been on the line and he's been at the LB level. He's been lined up over center, and he's lined up next to Beason. He's been called on to blitz from all over the place, and he's been dropped back into coverage. Most of the time he's just asked to get by the tackle and apply pressure to the QB. Basically though, he's been used in about every way you can use a guy like him in either the 3-4 or the 4-3 and on the field he hasn't shown anyone that he's being used wrong when you ask him to play a 4-3 end. BUT, he wants you to think the reason for that is lack of opportunity.

I think a lot of his talent. I just don't think too highly of his character.

Exactly. I don't understand why anyone is surprised by any of this. He's been gone mentally since Sept.2007. No big deal... we move on.

Ok i am a pep fan not homer but what did he do wrong to you?

Look what people not on this board are saying

"I don't understand how you lost all your respect for him. Why, b/c he wants to go somewhere else to further develop as a player? Did you really expect him to stay with us his entire career? I mean, I expected him to stay with us for a little longer than 7 years, but that's football. He isn't leaving for more money.

I'm sure the last 2 years, the Panthers have thrown more figures in his face than you could imagine. He just doesn't like the system. And with Mike Trgovac's failed attempts time and time again, who could blame him? And this announcement was done with class. He waited, not only until the end of his contract, but after the last game of the final year of his contract to announce this publicly. He could have pulled this out in the middle of the season or back when these negotiations started when he still had 2 years left on his contract. But he waited until now. Think about it. He wants to further develop as a player which is why he wants to go somewhere he feels he can do so b/c in his eyes, he doesn't feel like he can do that in Carolina. He doesn't want to leave his family in Carolina but in order for him to become better, he feels he has to. Let me ask you this....let's say you owned a local, family-owned hardware store and Pep signed a 3 year contract to work as the manager of your store. Would you lose respect for him if he worked out his contract and respectfully chose to leave to manage a store that is part of a huge franchise to further challenge and develop his skills as being a store manager? I hope you wouldn't, b/c that would make YOU the greedy, selfish fool....not him".

"So what if he wants to leave!! The guy did what few players do this time and age....actually honor his contract. He gave Foxy and his teammates the respect of staying with them, playing, and not complaining a peep through his whole contract.. He gave carolina 7 years."

"i can't blame pep or any other guy from the panthers d for wanting to leave. these guys are football players and competitors, they want to compete and challenge other teams. trgovac is so conservative and plays such a soft defense that these guys are not getting the chance to really showcase their abilities. I am a loyal panther fan but until we replace trgovac we run the risk of losing maake, lewis, taylor, johnson, davis, gamble, and beason. everybody criticized our db's but if trgovac would have been more aggressive and played more bump and run instead of laying back so much they would have been much better. again these guys like to compete so don't blame pep for wanting to go somewhere else if we don't get another d-coordinator they'll all want to leave"

i agree with you 100% i think some people on here are just taking it a lil to serious....its a business he is doing what he fills best for him

One sensible, appreciative response out of 5 so far, thanks bro.

I've said nothing idiotic, and I think I was more inciteful in my particular 'Peppers wants out' thread than many of the others that have amounted to not much more than 'Turgo sucks!'.....'Fire Fox!'.....'I hate Delhomme!'.

Brayton gave 250% more effort than Peppers.

true, but peppers has 250% more talent than brayton. tyler is not a solid starting player. charles johnson shows much more talent than brayton but doesn't have the conditioning to stay on the field. i think our best shot is edwards getting fired by the chiefs and us hiring him as our d-coordinator.
