David Clowney Stats and video

The Saltman

I think (see: HOPE) that he is going to contribute. He's been buried behind some really good receivers, and hasn't had a chance to come out and shine. We don't need him to return kicks, so I'm not worried about his ST play. I just want his ass to get open, and get in the endzone.

Really? Hopefully he learned a lot playing behind greats like Wallace Wright and Brad Smith. If he was any good they wouldn't have had to trade give up picks for Holmes and Edwards. Cotchery has prolly been their best WR over the last three or 4 seasons. Not happy with this pickup.

I've had my eye on Clowney since he first got released. I didn't really think Carolina would pick him up because...well because its Carolina and we don't usually do things that make sense.

Kid has obvious talent if you bother to watch him play. Possibly some character issues but they may very well be cured by a change of scenery. I love Gettis but Clowney is the second best receiver on our roster as of right now and gives us a slot threat and possibly a deep threat to open the slot for Smitty.

My biggest concern is that he seems skittish at times regarding contact and could be a liability in run blocking.

you guys wanna trade 1st rounders? seeing as we don't have a 2nd rounder and seeing as we're in a position of need, no one is going to go lower than a 3rd... We got a deep threat who can get open and catch the ball. That's different than Dwayne (Slow) and Drew Carter (no hands). Secondly, he's not stupid, can learn a playbook, taller than Steve Smith, has the measurables and did I mention he's still an upgrade? i know i REALLY don't wanna bring back Kenny Moore or some practice squad guy at this point. Getting a cheap Free Agent is a good thing. Besides, Gettis and Lafell would still be starting. Not like Jarrett is going to be taking up a roster spot anymore.
