David Clowney Stats and video

this.....you people amaze me. You bitch about us signing somebody, anybody. Now that we sign a guy who has had little chances, and potential to be decent you bitch some more.

It's all in the stats. You can't really read them because of the Forum HTML formatting... so I'll summarize:

He started no games this year, and had one catch for 22 yards.

He started 3 games in 2009, had 14 receptions for 191 yards, his longest play for 53 yards. He had one touchdown, and one fumble that wasn't turned over. He did 3 Kick Off returns, averaging 27 yards, the longest for 37 yards.

In 2008, he played in one game and had one catch for 26 yards.

In 2007, his Rookie year, he was inactive all season.

His career stats are 16 receptions for 239 yards, a TD and a fumble.

Now... compare to Jarrett

In the same 4 years, he had 35 receptions for a total of 428 yards, and a TD.

Other than the fact that he's not been busted for a DWI/DUI, how is Clowney an upgrade to this position?

And until someone wants to link me a list of Free Agents, I refuse to believe this dude was the best FA WR out there.

I was at VT when he played and he was pretty good. Played the 3 slot behind Eddie Royal and Josh Morgan.

Not going to amount to what potential DJ ever had, but he isn't terrible either.

Well. I guess if he stays sober enough to play, maybe he'll get the chance to show something.

I'm cautiously pessimistic at this point.

Oh that's right because you were convinced the Panthers were going to actually pursue a high profile free agent that they would have to pay a pretty decent amount of money.......

As sad as it sounds, he's probably the best of the practical WR FAs out there.

Coles already stated it was Jets or retirement.

Bryant signed a big contract then was set loose from Cincy (they ate a LOT of money) without playing a snap because he has no knees left.

Jackson would take picks/player + picks, has a bad DUI history and might be the product of Rivers being a goddamn cyborg. Probably drunk-trolling the huddle as we speak.

Those are the only three big names that I can think of. I'm cautiously optimistic about Clowney and at least the FO is trying and not just promoting Guy up from the PS.

Whoa there bucko. Don't put words in my mouth.

I know JR's playing Big Lots football this year. I have ZERO expectation that JR is going to spend money.

But when people say this guy was the "BEST" WR in free agency, I'm going to LOL.

Was he the BEST value for Big Lots football? Maybe. Who knows? But I highly doubt he was the "Best" WR out there.

I heard 1 thing on the Redskin clip that we have never heard when Jarret gets the ball, "He made his man miss". He actually had YAC. Amazing!

He's a Panther now, I'll support him 100%. I do hope he gets to play Sunday even if just a little. Being able to play on ST is so important too even if he's not on the squad now. Both Captain and Goodson took a beating last week. And 6 foot is not little, I hope it's a wirey 188 lbs.

Note - I didn't say dominate, I said good.

This season:

Braylon Edwards (huge name, thus he's going to play whether you hate on him or not), Jerricho Cotchery, Brad Smith (versatile, so he's going to play), Patrick Turner (don't really know)

Last season:

Braylon Edwards, Jerricho Cotchery, Chansi Stuckey, Wallace Wright, Brad Smith

2008

Laverneus Coles, Chansi Stuckey, Jerricho Cotchery, Wallace Wright, Brad Smith

Rep for the facts how can he get ahead of these dudes they are not the best but they all have specific roles. Dude is not trash by any means and in our current situation he could probably be our number two easily and contribute we don't have any receivers that have endured training camps 16 game schedules etc. We are lucky to get him not saying he's a world beater but he is a upgrade to our roster.

Edwards and Holmes are a formidable duo, the Jets also cut Danny Woodhead who has impressed thus far with the Pats.

I like the move, can't hurt anything.

Goes to show it's really about how you use the talent you have, but hey it Jeff D he isnt the most creative guy in the world. (Don't know that for sure because I thought that about Dan until he left)
