More on Jarrett arrest, background

There may not be a better word to sum up WR Dwayne Jarrett's run in Carolina than frustration.

Per that theme, there was no reason for him to be drinking and driving last night, since the Panthers provide a free car service to any players who need it.

The Panthers have always offered, and a player confirmed Tuesday morning that they still do, a free ride to any player who needs one.

Jarrett, 24, was arrested for driving while impaired early this morning, his second such arrest since joining the team. The first came in 2008.

While he could be suspended by the league for the second DWI arrest (San Diego's Vincent Jackson was given a three-game suspension after he was convicted of his second), other action could be forthcoming.

The Panthers have parted ways with players for off-field activites before.

Former SS/special teamer Jarrod Cooper was released in October 2004 after a third strike. He stayed here through two drunk driving arrests, but was released in midseason after being arrested for driving with a revoked license and providing false information to a police officer.

In November 2002, former RT Chris Terry was released after he failed to appear in court for misdemanor domestic violence charges.
