This makes a lot of sense to the "mystery" surrounding Dwayne Jarrett and Fox.

I have always found it odd that Fox or the team has never tried to out Jarrett for his failings at WR. Teams are usually pretty quick to give a reason why so and so was inactive, especially if it is a "big name player". While Jarrett has never been a pivotal player in Carolina he still carries a lot of hype among the fan base. Usually coaches and FO's will tell or leak something to the media as to why the guy who is supposed to be special is sucking. If for no other reason it relieves the coaches and FO of the responsiblity of "why isn't this guy what we thought he was?" questions.

They have never really given a reason as to what is behind Jarrett's inability to see the field. This has led a lot of fans to think that it is some kind of conspiracy amongst Fox and his cronnies. I have long thought though that Fox was protecting Jarrett from something for some reason.

Adding to my beliefs that it was more Fox and co. trying to help Jarrett than to hinder him was the fact that Jarrett NEVER lashed out about his lack of playing time. Yes, he has asked for a trade this year, and yes he did say the lack of playing time was frustrating. He has never really stated that he DOESN'T understand the reasoning and has never seemed upset about it.

IF Jarrett has a serious drinking problem it explains a lot of his problems. His inability to learn the playbook, confusion about what to do during game situations, his over-all lethargic nature on the field, and so forth. Now I am not saying that Jarrett was drunk on game-days but a heavy dose of drinking every night leads to a lot of mental and cordination issues, that Jarrett seems to display at times.

If he does have a drinking problem and the team has never outed him on it and has kept him around all this time trying to help him it says a few things. #1 it tells us how mature and close the organization is as a whole. #2, if all of this is true then Jarrett must have talent running out of his ass-hole but he just can't get his poo together.

Just some of my personal thoughts on the situation and what has been going on with Jarrett for the last few years.
