What will it take to lay off the Clausen bashing?

Forget about all the ratings and all that stuff. When the game was on the line and came down to that one play, everything fell apart and Jimmy scrambled outside, made 3 reads on the run, and hit Gettis in traffic perfectly on the sideline. That play sold me on Jimmy. I haven't seen a Panthers QB do that since Jake hit Rosario against SD. Even that was a designed route. Jimmy improvised his when poo went sideways.

I heard an interesting thing about the difference between Vick and Kolb yesterday. They were saying Vick looks for the big play first and second, and only when he is sure it's not there does he dump it off. Kolb dinks and dunks first, and checks down from the big play before it has a chance to develop.

That's what Jimmy is doing right now. As soon as he gets the timing down with his guys and trusts himself to make the deep throws, there will be a lot bigger plays in our pass game and that'll open up the run. But yesterday showed me that in the future we will win many games because of Clausen, not in spite of him, which has been our QB situation for some time. I truly believe he'll be much more than a game manager.

Actually the game was on the line later than that play. And Clausen got sacked and threw a pass that even if caught was thrown to the wrong spot. The ball should have been thrown to the outside where Jarrett could have caught the ball and went out of bounds.

So no what jimmy showed was that he couldn't do the job under pressure. With the esception of the one throw to Gettis he had a bunch more on the last 2 drives that were very poorly thrown.

Well I thought he showed some grit when the game was on the line on the play I was talking about. Maybe he didn't make the game saving play after that, but wasnt it 4th down on the throw to Gettis? So the game was on the line then too. Maybe if we didn't call the most predictable 15 yard hooks on 4th and 14 we'd be better.

Anyways, I thought he showed promise for it being game two for him. I guess we'll just have to agree to disagree on this one.

Not really fair to say that the game wasn't on the line when it's 4th and 4 like that. It was, and he delivered. In fact, the throw was so good that if 1) Williams either makes his cut or 2) miraculously gains yards going to the right instead of losing them like I think he would have, we'd probably all be talking about the throw that put us in FG range. 'Cause that's what it was.

He did "take a sack" on a crucial play, but he wasn't exactly set up to succeed there, and it wasn't as if he sat in the pocket for 15 seconds before taking it. The pocket never even formed it collapsed pretty quick. To me, it was more troubling that he had such trouble getting the plays out to the team and losing so much time. IMO, that's something that will change with time as he becomes more comfortable with calling plays and getting them to the players.

The only time he had clock management issues was during the first part of the game...you know the time his head set malfunctioned and wasn't getting the plays from the side line?

The throw to Jarrett was right at the stick at the side line. He put the ball in play to let the receiver go get it (which he didn't).

The Clausen supports haven't disappeared, what are you talking about?

Even with the reps to Lafell and Gettis he still focused in on one player. Consistently throwing INT's trying to get him the ball...how in the world can you people see that as a good thing?

And what excuses are you talking about? Clausen made mistakes but guess what, every QB in this league does; rookie or not!

Are you trying to say that the last drive after D Wills run and after his sack he didn't waste time? If so, that's a terrible hurry up.

And you are right the throw to Jarrett was right at the stick, but it was not on the sideline. What happens if he catches that ball (ignoring the fact that he was short of the first down) and we get a first down. GAME OVER! Did you not know that the clock doesn't stop and once it hits 0:00 there is no more time left in the game? Jimmy should have known this and not thrown that ball to arguably our worst playmaker if he has such a high football I.Q.

Also, I didn't say the Clausen supporters have disappeared I said the qualities that supposedly made him the most NFL ready rookie have disappeared.

I wasn't saying Moore forcing the ball to Smith was a good thing. I was saying that he nor Clausen had Smith in preseason so that's not an excuse. Also, i was addressing the fact that Clausen supporters use the "he didn't get first team reps" excuse when in reality we had no real "first team" of receivers because they all rotated.

You Clausen guys need some reading comprehension skills.

:smilielol5:

That has got to be far and away one of the stupidest posts I've read on here in quite some time.
