What will it take to lay off the Clausen bashing?

The only thing I somewhat disagree with is if you're giving up the season, why not keep Moore in there till the bye so Jimmy can get some quality time with the starters before he has to go out there and prove himself.

Most of the major issues I've seen that bother me (bobbled snaps, poor clock management) could very well be from a lack of playing time with the ones.

I'll give you the snaps week 3 but clock management? He was "the most NFL ready" coming into the NFL, he should know you can't waste 20 seconds in between plays when you need a score to win the game and he definitely should know not to throw to Jarrett where he doesn't have a chance of getting out of bounds. Those things (high football I.Q., etc) are the reasons Clausen supporters wanted him to start now that he's in there they seem to have disappeared.

Also, we didn't really have a #1 starting set of receivers in the preseason but rather a rotating group that was constantly mixed and matched so Clausen got just as many reps with LaFell, Gettis, etc that Moore did. Remember that no one got reps with Smith so that is also not an excuse.

Clausen > Moore. Whining, screaming, rolling on the floor, holding your breath, it's not going to change.

Sorry :(

You keep making this Moore versus Clausen and the fact that Moore has sucked doesn't change that Clausen hasn't played well either. Truth could be that neither are the answer.

Clausen still has played average to poor. Like you said he is a rookie and ought to suck. Don't know why you clausen slobbers have to get so defensive. Until Clausen can actually engineer a drive in the fourth quarter, he isn't the answer at all.

The only time he had clock management issues was during the first part of the game...you know the time his head set malfunctioned and wasn't getting the plays from the side line?

The throw to Jarrett was right at the stick at the side line. He put the ball in play to let the receiver go get it (which he didn't).

The Clausen supports haven't disappeared, what are you talking about?

Even with the reps to Lafell and Gettis he still focused in on one player. Consistently throwing INT's trying to get him the ball...how in the world can you people see that as a good thing?

And what excuses are you talking about? Clausen made mistakes but guess what, every QB in this league does; rookie or not!

He is playing sloppy and like a rookie. I agree with you. He is also showing progression, which is where I guess we'll disagree.

Anyway, what's annoying is when the whole rookie situation is brushed aside like it's a trivial thing. Comparing Clausen in any way to Delhomme in 2003 doesn't work, because Delhomme had time to adjust, had time to learn from other QBs, had time for things to slow down. I might even concede that Moore is slightly (only slightly) better at this point. The problem is that Moore should be in another world than Clausen right now, and you know that. Neither has been able to win and Clausen isn't really playing any worse. Also, like him or hate him, Clausen has and will be given every opportunity to make this his team. I know you don't agree, but the FO thinks really highly of him, tried to trade up for him, wet themselves when he slid to their position and thinks he'll be very good. Short of him getting hurt, he's going to be the starter at QB to groom him for the future.

Moore had a shot through two games, played really badly, got nothing going and we didn't win. On top of that, he's on a one year deal and will probably be gone next season. We're not going to the playoffs, we're an ok defense, a bad offense and would get murdered even if we snuck in as a wildcard. Oh well, we're the Bucs, it happens to everyone at some point.

Question.. why is it the lines fault that Moore got hit so much, but Clausen takes sacks?

wrong question. OL play was bad for both. Clausen can't take a sack even if the OL is at fault in that scenario (it wasn't a blindside sack).....the real issue is the time from DeAngelo's negative run until time expired. We had no chance.

Sad when we have to argue about who sucks worse at this point. From 12-4 to potential 4-12 if we get on a roll in 2 short years is ridiculous.

Sad day for all Panthers fans.
