What will it take to lay off the Clausen bashing?

he is playing like a rookie. he is playing pretty well for a rookie. he is doing about as well as many of our quarterbacks who are not rookies have done. this is making the fan base impressed with him since he is a rookie. :P

saying things like "clausen sucks" or "looks bad all the time" or claiming he does things he doesn't is about as helpful as the people who are claiming he is the second coming of... whoever.

he's a rookie. he's shown us some good, some bad. I enjoy watching him play. I think he IS learning and playing better. Others disagree. Hey, the offense got two TDs this week, that is definitely an improvement from the last two weeks, lol.

Simple. Play well when the game is on the line. Do what Delhomme did on the first game he played for us, lead us on a drive in the fourth quarter and actually win the game. Until then he is not very good.

We need a quarterback who can play well under pressure. When the pressure was there on Sunday, he disappeared. Until then he doesn't deserve a break.

Hell just froze over. I have to agree.

no, he isn't playing well for a rookie. He is playing like a rookie who isn't ready. Bradford is now playing well for a rookie. Big difference.

The difference being that Delhomme's 2 years in NFL Europe and 4 years learning on the bench in New Orleans probably gave him a liiiittle bit more experience than Clausen.

I know. I was furious when Clausen took the hand-off from himself, decided not to run it up the gut, cut back and lost 4 yards.

Then, to top things off on the very next play, he doesn't pick up the blitz, blocks poorly, and allows himself to take a sack.

I also give him no credit for the 4th down throw to Gettis. The CB obviously screwed up and Clausen shouldn't get any credit for other people's mistakes.

Excuses, excuses!!!

How about Weinke in his first game whose team has a 14-13 lead midway through the third quarter. Minnesota has just scored a TD to draw within 1 point. Sound familiar? Yeah, Weinke comes right back and scores a TD then add another 3 points 2 series in the fourth quarter to salt it away, 24-13.

If he can do it in game 1 why can't pickles.

we wouldn't have been in the position to win the game w/o DeAngelo making plays. There was no hole for him to run through or push.

after that play Clausen took a sack and let all the time drain off the clock so the last was meaningless even if caught.

Why just not admit he isn't very good right now instead of all the excuses. First you say he is a rookie and therefore it is okay to suck.

Then you make excuses all day on every play about how it isn't his fault.

Just admit that he is a rookie and sucks right now. That is all it takes.

The only thing I somewhat disagree with is if you're giving up the season, why not keep Moore in there till the bye so Jimmy can get some quality time with the starters before he has to go out there and prove himself.

Most of the major issues I've seen that bother me (bobbled snaps, poor clock management) could very well be from a lack of playing time with the ones.

Clausen > Moore. Whining, screaming, rolling on the floor, holding your breath, it's not going to change.

Sorry :(

Question.. why is it the lines fault that Moore got hit so much, but Clausen takes sacks?
