This season is going exactly as planned

AGAIN, for those missing it this is exactly how JR planned this season to go. No cap, he dumps the overpriced salaries. No CBA in place he is keeping his costs down for when there IS a CBA in place.

I will say it again, YES as a fan it is painful to watch but if you see the bigger picture then you would have to agree it is the right thing to do. We have to position ourselfs to have a good draft pick, lower cap number and some pieces in place for when the new CBA is in place.

Honestly we panthers fans are a little spoiled, this team has been at least competitive in the 00's including a Superbowl. Want to talk suck? Go check out the Buffalo Bills...believe me it could be MUCH worse!!

I'm not mad. yesterday I enjoyed the game. They gave it their all and came up short. That's what I want. Win or loose, play with heart.

Our next coach will have some nice draft picks to choose from and a lot of money in free agency.

JR did not plan to lose thats just crazy..he cut cost. the plan was not to then turn around and lose and have a top 5 pick and have to pay all that money to a rookie plus long term deals for some key players

Actually, I believe if we go lower than 4-12...we're very capable of hitting worse case scenario.

Also, I don't believe being inconsistent every year and taking some of the asswhoopings we took is "spoiled". When are we gonna start comparing ourselves to winners instead of teams like the Bills, Browns, etc. JR said he wanted our team to emulate the Steelers...let's compare our team to them and try to match their success.

I thought he was cutting costs in an effort to show the other owners the they dont need big salaries or huge contracts to win. He was trying to prove that it could be done without paying the players sh_ttons of money, and this is what has backfired... He wasnt planning to lose, but rather that he could win with this group of young players. Unfortunately...

I believe there is some revisionist history going on here.

Jake doesn't make our o-line better.

Jake was less mobile and had worse pocket precense than Moore or Clausen, so you could probably double the number of fumbles and sacks. Also, I dont really think I need to talk about decision making.

And we would still be sitting here, with at best a 1-3 record, and not developing any young talent.

We like to remember Good Jake, but he was not there for the last 2 years.

The hole in this theory is that we are nowhere near the cheapest team, as far as payroll goes, this season... last I saw we were still spending like $109 or so million on salaries, and that puts us in the mid to upper range...

A large chunk of that 109 (I think almost 20 million) is dead money paid to players not on the team anymore. I think active players we are around 89 million which is really close to the bottom of the league

I really can't believe JR would sacrifice one year and a year of a players career just to save some money. Only then to bring in a new coaching staff and basically put the team 2-3 years from being a winner. Jon Gruden (or any other coach) is not going to walk in and take a team to the Superbowl in his first year twice.

I have to agree with one of the radio guys (Mac) and wonder why JR didn't just fire Fox and bring in his new coach and staff, to go ahead and start the rebuilding now. Too cheap I guess.
