Its obvious to anyone with a clue, the Panthers draft with their first pick...

DT ...damn we were one year away from Suh and Mcoy but I agree Zod. We need to address corner at some point. Richard Marshall is likely gone, but that can be done through a trade or in the 3rd round. Unless we are planning on signing that guy from Baltimore DT is our biggest need.

Oh and wide receiver.

also if Marvin Austin is the best DT available next year we picked a bad year to need a DT.

Very true. I go to UNC and the only players worth drafting in the first round on defense are Bruce Carter (not really a need but he is a sure-fire pick in my opinion) and Robert Quinn. If Burney was available in the third or fourth round I would take him. Charles Brown is absolutely awful, if we draft him I am going to be so pissed. If Greg Little is available in the later rounds I wouldn't mind taking a gamble on him.

If things remain constant and we get a top 3 draft pick, we need to draft a QB. This team and franchise will not go anywhere until it improves on the offensive side of the ball. We keep tryna drive a car with no engine or weak engines. Until we upgrade there and get some consistency, bring in all the defensive guys you want, they wont score points, and eventually will want to bounce (a la Kris Jenkins, a la Julius Peppers, a la Chris Harris).

Which QB would that be?

I know its a dream but Richard Seymour is a FA next year. He's getting older but he'd be a good addition to our defensive line. As for the draft, I'm really open to whatever. Green is awesome, as is Peterson, but if we can address something in FA hopefully we can maybe trade down a little bit. I'd be happy trading down and getting Prince Amukamara or Allen Bailey.

...best DT of the draft. If that means trading down from the #1 pick to the #7 or 8 pick and picking up a second rounder in the process... so be it.

i bet you the new coaching staff will want a QB that they like because as we saw in the draft 31 teams didn't want Clausen

    • Respectfully, I completely disagree. Last year we were:  32nd in Sacks. 32nd in Turnovers.  32nd in Rushing TDs allowed  29th in Scoring.  We were absolutely atrocious on defense last year and that was with a full stable of weapons in Derek Brown, Frankie Luvu and Brian Burns that played all 17 games.  Using yards per game as a metric to guage our success lacks the context that because our offense was so inept teams were not driving the length of the field, they were starting at their 40-50 yard line.  This year, our Defense ranks:  31st in Sacks. Tied for 19th in Turnovers  31st in Rushing TDs allowed 32nd in Scoring  His defense fails to get pressure, fails to turn the ball over and fails to stop the run. Three things you absolutely have to do to be successful in the NFL.  Denver meanwhile has not missed a beat without him.  If another team wants to hire him as a HC and the Panthers get two 3rds for it I'll wish him the best and pack his bags myself.
