Gmonet

I would have never called him out had he told me he didn't have the money for whatever reason. It has happened several times over the years and I have never called anybody out for it because it happens, when it comes to paying for food or heat vs. sponsoring a tailgate, then the tailgate comes last even if it is for charity. It's ok to have good intentions and mean well in stepping up and I understand when things come up and situations change.

But to get mad at something one or a couple of people posted on a board of 10,000, then withdraw your sponsorship of a tailgate to benefit charity, well, then I don't feel so bad about starting this thread.

Gmonet is a good dude. He loves his Panthers.

Loving the Panthers does not exclude someone from being a douche bag (as this board proves...it's true, it's true). :D But pulling a sponsorship that helps a childrens charity DOES make you a first class douche bag. gmonet can take his "sponsorship" money and shove it up his ass.

How did that conversation go, when he pulled his sponsorship, cyclonus?

How did that conversation go, when he pulled his sponsorship, cyclonus?

Something like this:

So Friday (9days before the tailgate) Gmonet comes up and says he doesn't want to sponsor the tailgate anymore. Says that he is buds with Richardson and was turned off by some postings that were critical of Richardson and doesn't want anything to do with the Huddle anymore. So he's pulling out of his sponsorship pledge, which helps buy bikes at Christmas to needy children, because he was turned off by some poster from probably Illinois who has never come to a tailgate and is now leaving us high and dry on enough sponsorship money to make it where 100% of the donations can go to charity.

If you do know him please tell him that he and Jerry Richardson can go fug themselves. Thanks.

But really... what purpose did it serve to even start this thread in the first place? What positive thing was there to be gained?

It's not like you were outright asking people to take up the slack for funds - that I could understand.

the goal of the tailgate is hanging with fellow fans, solving the worlds problems, hearing some mega disco truck 5 feet away jam on ANNNNNNNNNND to help some kids who don't have many breaks in life get a bike at Christmas.

Thats it. TO HELP KIDS.

Take a stand and don't post on the Huddle or state your case ON the Huddle about better behavior or having perspective etc but not at the expense of kids.

It just seems laughable that gmonet would let a few crass comments sway him from posting here and also sponsoring the tailgate. Have we become so thin-skinned that we just can't deal with someone when they post a viewpoint that differs from our own, no matter how classless that viewpoint is?

For every one person that makes a comment like that, there are going to be 10 guys on here that will chide him for being classless. But gmonet sees only a forum full of miscreants, and heaven forbid he'd associate with people like us. Especially if it benefits children.

One poster?!!! One posted did that. Go to any message board and you'll find that one guy who doesn't think straight for that one moment.

This was for the KIDS. If it was just to tailage, drink beer and bs, then ok. I can see that.

I'm just glad he gave us enough time to cover before it was too late.

IMHO, these 2 cases are or should be totally unrelated to the other. Here's what I've gathered:

A. Carolinahuddle.com annually has tailgates with food provided and sponsored by forum members (typically) and accepts contributions for Christmas Toys for Tots bicycle drive.

B. Gmonet committed to sponsoring the Panthers-Bears tailgate (splitting it actually).

C. A forum member (not a moderator or administrator) said something pretty out of line regarding the owner of the Carolina Panthers.

D. Gmonet has rescinded his commitment to his tailgate sponsorship.

OK. I think Gmonet is being quite the puss with his actions. Hey, he's free to throw his hands to hips, stomp foot and storm out the door, never to return again. That's fine. But to basically say that he will not support this very worthy charity because of something that was said on a public forum and said by someone unaffiliated with those who run the tailgates... ghey. All narcissistic passive aggressive and poo...
