Why can't we get Hooooover back?

In days of yore, great help was needed and the people cried out, "Send us the heroes of yesteryear!!!!"

And lo it was said to them, "Sorry chumps, you didn't appreciate us when you had us! Smell ya later!"

And now we come to the part of the fable where the spirit of defensive lines past and the ghost of old Bob Delhomme come by to rattle their chains and make us lament our old fickle selves.

In closing, the moral of the story is: You guys used to think those players sucked...

Though Hoover's hands weren't as sure as say, Jim Brown's (Can I say Jim Brown here NJ?) The man was a blocking back unsurpassed. 4 Yards today was all that was needed. We'll never know if Hoover would have made that difference. All I can say about it is recall his impact hole busting in his years with the Panthers. Its like saying without Kasay we'd of won what games we have. Oh! We had better start looking for someone to replace Kasay in another couple years. Those WILL be some big shoes to fill.

I've been saying since preseason that Fiametta was not the answer at fullback.

Yes, I do believe Hoover would've gotten us to that field goal today because DeAngelo would've followed his block to get the yardage needed.

You can listen to any postgame interview with Williams and Stewart last year when they both had over 1000 yards and they always praised Hoover's blocking. There should not be any discussion about what his value was to this team.

But all that is of no value now because he is not on the team. No, they will not sign him back. We are stuck with what we have.

In games without Hoover last year we averaged 144 yds per game. Not having him doest effect our running game in any significant way.

Where are you getting your stats? I'd like to see them because they're evidently very complete.

Statistics are an aftermath. They're what is left. Taken at face value they don't always tell the whole story. What I saw when Hoover played was, him leading the run into and around the scrimage line and busting holes and making blocks to open up the run. I'm not seeing that this season. Is it because he's not there? Don't know. I'd like to get him back to find out. It would be as likely a possibility of his return as any player the Panthers have kicked loose. But it would require management to admit a mistake. That isn't likely.

I got it from a post I made while back. At the time I looked all the games Hoover did not play in 2009 an did simple math to find the average. Your free to check on it at NFL.com.

The reason we arent running well

1.We are without our starting RT.

2. We have bad guard play with 2nd year Beanradu.

3. We have a 8-9 man fronts because of the lack of passing offence.

Hoover or the majority of FB would not have had any decent success with these problems.

That doesnt even take into account that brigning a 33 year old FB who has had no practise this season, and just last year had injuries issues, wouldnt make any since.

Not only that but this season isnt going anywhere, so why bring an old FB into a likley losing season if were just going to dump him the next year.

I mean this is all hypothetical 'cause no one is going to admit they did something terribly stupid by cutting Hoover.

As I said stats can be made show most anything. So far I haven't found individual game stats to make a comparison. Again one factor can't usually be used to show an outcome. If it is results are skewed. We lost Smith last year about the same time Hoover went out. Delhome was about as accurate as a musket. I think most of us will agree a run game suffers without a pass game and visa versa. I think were we to have a viable run game this season it would take pressure off the pass game.

Your right in the aspect that Hoover didn't practice this season. Has he stayed in shape physically? I hope so. I just see his return as a possible quick, doable solution to a very bad situation and it'll be hard to convince me otherwise.
