What about the TE ?

All the talk about the lack of wide outs and that argument is more than valid, but Carolina has also failed to draft, trade for, or develop a truly top notch TE who can really stretch the middle of the field.

On Sirius NFL radio they always talk about the TE position being the easiest to hit for short yardage and conversions because they are matched with LB or safties. Yet we have failed to address this position. Yeh Rosario is decent but he would fit good behind a Pro Bowl caliber guy who can makes plays.

Evidently everyone else in our division understood the need for a player at this position. NO got Shockey, TB got Winslow, Atl got Gonzalez. Carolina got nothing but Rosario, King, and Barnidge (BTW what happened to this guy - all i heard about in pre season was how great Barnidge looked)

Look Shockey didnt kill us today but his backup did. Winslow was the difference in TB game and who on this board wouldnt love to have Gonzalez even at his age. So add TE to the equation as another position we have consistently failed to address.

Agreed. We need to be running all sorts of sets with a combination of what we have at TE. A receiving/blocking threat that you can spread out the defense with or go toe to toe. I cant comment though on how effective we've been using those sets but I do see a lack of TE importance in our entire gameplan.

Our use of what we got is a whole other issue LOL. We could talk about Davidson till we are blue in the face. Honestly dont think the man can call plays of create plays for his talent. I mean watching the Saints early it was amazing how they used WR to run picks to get guys open and how they used their TE in short yard passing, deep outs to Shockey, even a TE around to Graham for a first down early. We have NONE of that type thing.

We also have no one who can run that type thing. If we had a Gonzalez we wouldnt know what to do with him anyway

They are showing signs of moving that way, with Rosario sometimes being split wide.

I would like to see us getting the ball to them more down the middle, but Clausen doesn't seem confident deep down the middle often.

Rosario is just a stop gap. He probably could only see playing time on one other team...the Browns.
