We might just have something special here with Jimmy Clausen

So your saying you don't want Clausen to learn because he has David Carr's habits? Really? Not that he is a rookie has anything to do with that at all. I'd rather see them stick with Clausen and let him learn how to play with the receivers he has IMO.

I am saying John Fox and Fox's offense may not be a good thing for a QB like Clasuen.....one who has a lot of Carr like qualities to his game. I'd rather a coach w/ a different offense approach, scheme, legit offensive knowledge, and vet QB on his roster guide Clasuen into the early stages of his career.

how has he looked better and better?

I am not a Bradford fan, Bradford simply looks like he gets the position at this level. Clausen isn't there yet. I am not saying he won't get there. Not saying he won't get there this season. I hope he does soon. But he is taking his lumps right now and doesn't look good. That is all.

I think people need to take the homer glasses off a bit. Clausen is what he is right now. He has proven and really shown nothing yet.....so the threads praising him are just a little whack.

Well, lets see, He didn't throw an INT this week and threw a TD. He is getting better, but it will take time. If you can't see that Jimmy is getting better, then you really don't want to see it. This ain't Madden where you can play all night and get to the next season and the stat upgrades now. But haters gonna hate.

Some of you guys are going way to far into this. Clausen looked good, not bad, not great. Hes got the potential though, thats why hes starting now. He has a far more talented arm than Moore and thats not hard to see. Let him take his lumps now and play for the 2011 season. The risk is worth the reward, Clausen is a very talented passer and more athletic than Moore.

Moore's body of work went up in flames the minute he got a shot for this to be his team, teams planned for him, and he poo the bed. He didn't have a bad game against the Giants, he had an embarrassingly awful game against them. He also looked horrible against the Bucs, showing no feel for pressure at all, bootlegging out of bounds behind the line of scrimmage and just not doing anything at all to get the team going. The reason he got a concussion in the first place was because instead of scrambling around, he stood back in the pocket staring downfield and taking hits he shouldn't.

The entire reason our rookie QB is playing when he shouldn't is because.. why not? He's already at least on par with Moore and, unlike Moore, will still be here next year. Let him take his bumps and bruises and grow.

You'd have an argument if Moore was winning games for us and we yanked him to showcase our shiny new rookie. We yanked him because he sucked.

yeah, he had a horrible game against the Giants. QBs have those games young in their careers.....even HOF QBs. The Buc game was still winnable when he was pulled.....Fox declared the game over (in his own words). That is on Fox. You don't bench a QB that young, with his body of work w/ this team, and one that was gaining respect of the team in a leadership role in that Tampa game. Fox benching of him in that Tampa game calls Fox's decision into question about what is really going on here.

If I recall correctly, a lot of other players really sucked those first two weeks up until the moment Moore was benched.......

Thats not fair for you to compare Clausen to Carr, not fair at all. Why are you so mad? Why do you hate Clausen? WTF did he do to you? Hes done nothing but work his butt off, say all the right things and he loves being a Carolina Panther. GTFO off his back, its not his fault people are giving him high praise, he didnt ask for anything nor do anything wrong.

Umm... Carolina runs the exact same offensive system that Jimmy Clausen ran in college and was successful at running. I agree with you that the play calling can at times leave alot to be desired, but once again he's only a rookie and needs time to develop.

There you with the Carr comparison again. Lets look at this since we're on this topic. Does Jimmy Clausen stand in the pocket like a statue? No. Clausen actually does scramble, avoids big hits, and goes though progressions though you don't seem to think so.

The only similar thing between the two of them is that Carr didn't have good pass protection and Clausen doesn't have good pass protection either right now. Carr was from day one told to be the whole offense, Clausen is being told to manage the offense and don't make mistakes. Lets also look at something else that Clausen has but Carr never did, a decent running game (though its very stagnant play calling wise).

He has to be allowed to work though his mistakes, he will not grow as a QB if he can't do so and today's game shows that he can improve.

his stats looked signifcantly better than his play did today thanks to busted coverage by NO. This ain't fantasy football.

He isn't showing progression yet. He looked lost out there today.

Carolina doesn't run the exact same offense. In college, Clausen ran a ton of screen plays and dink and dunked a great deal. There were a lot of building blocks though and similar things. Problem is we don't have a lot of the stuff built into this offense Clausen thrived off of in college.

Carr didn't stand in the pocket like a statue. Carr looked for his first read and would panic not letting the plays develop. This offense doesn't have lots of check downs and most of the passing routes are deep/medium.

I agree Clausen has to be allowed to work through his mistakes. I am fine w/ that. I think today was great experience for him. But again, I don't see how we saw improvement yet from the young man.

This is starting to smell a lot like your Jarrett conspiracy posts.

Fox yanked Moore because he wasn't playing well and the team was doing nothing with him behind center.

Yea, I'm not really sure how people are seeing an improvement. He looked completely confused. Had no idea where the clock was. Missed targets pretty consistently. Like CRA said, his stats were inflated by a busted coverage. One he still managed to under throw.

Cause he didn't throw all those picks, thats the main thing. In fact, at one point in the game, Moore misplaced his clipboard. He didn't look on our bench for it, he went to the Saint's bench to try and find it.
