We might just have something special here with Jimmy Clausen

if only he had handed the ball off like jake, or had plays called like jake did.

You can say what you want about Jake but from the first game he played for us, he was able to drive us in the shotgun and take us down the field when we needed to score. Neither Moore or Clausen can do that worth a damn. Clausen was just slinging the ball at the first sign of pressure often not even close to the receiver. He was largely inaccurate with most of his passses in the fourth quarter which had no chance of being completed. Other than the one pass to Gettis on the last drive, he struggled to move the ball. I knew if we got behind in the fourth we were done. Sure he is rookie but no where close to being able to win the game in crunch time or drive for a score when the game counts. At this point we might not win 3 games all year.

Anyone who says Moore has played better this season than Clausen are full of it. Moore threw horrendous picks in their nature, and held onto the ball longer. For Clausen to look even a little better is huge for a him since he is a rookie and just came into the league. CLausen's ceiling is so much higher than Matt's you can just tell. Give Clausen Matt's 4 years and you think they will look equal? not even close. I am exited for Clausen he had a good game, he doesn't have much to work with.

he has a lot of Carr's habits that made Carr a poor NFL QB. I don't trust Fox and his offense to aid Clausen and help correct those. That is why I don't want Clausen on the field.

So your saying you don't want Clausen to learn because he has David Carr's habits? Really? Not that he is a rookie has anything to do with that at all. I'd rather see them stick with Clausen and let him learn how to play with the receivers he has IMO.

I think people are praising Jimmy a bit too highly. Yes, I understand he's a rookie, but claiming he'll be a Pro Bowler in a few years? Really? Could it just be that for the last two years, all we've seen were terrible QBs, and so that Clausen looks good at mediocrity?

I'm sure he will develop, but I haven't seen anything special yet. Just my two cents on this issue.

Jake Delhomme had several years of expierence, with a much better WR corp.

Why y'all talking about Moore or Smitty? Guess what? One is not playing here after December and the other is hurt (and might try to get out himself) Clausen has looked better and better each week and will get even better. I was not happy we drafted him, but he is looking like your QB so you better get used to it or become a Sam Bradford/Ram fan. k? k.

how has he looked better and better?

I am not a Bradford fan, Bradford simply looks like he gets the position at this level. Clausen isn't there yet. I am not saying he won't get there. Not saying he won't get there this season. I hope he does soon. But he is taking his lumps right now and doesn't look good. That is all.

I think people need to take the homer glasses off a bit. Clausen is what he is right now. He has proven and really shown nothing yet.....so the threads praising him are just a little whack.

Moore's body of work suggests it was a bad game. Moore's body of work suggests he gets Steve Smith the ball and looks downfield (which is key in a playaction offense).

Clausen will probably be here next season. Could easily be on the bench w/ a clipboard when the new coach arrives. Bradford looks miles ahead of Clausen (the pro ready QB) with basics required of the position.

I ain't out to knock Jimmy. He just hasn't earned the praise he is getting. He hasn't looked good.

Moore's body of work went up in flames the minute he got a shot for this to be his team, teams planned for him, and he poo the bed. He didn't have a bad game against the Giants, he had an embarrassingly awful game against them. He also looked horrible against the Bucs, showing no feel for pressure at all, bootlegging out of bounds behind the line of scrimmage and just not doing anything at all to get the team going. The reason he got a concussion in the first place was because instead of scrambling around, he stood back in the pocket staring downfield and taking hits he shouldn't.

The entire reason our rookie QB is playing when he shouldn't is because.. why not? He's already at least on par with Moore and, unlike Moore, will still be here next year. Let him take his bumps and bruises and grow.

You'd have an argument if Moore was winning games for us and we yanked him to showcase our shiny new rookie. We yanked him because he sucked.

Good game is when you play well especially when the game is on the line. Playing okay means you didn't screw up but didn't do much to win the game either. Poor game means you made mistakes and gave up plays that helped the other team and not yours.

With that criteria, Moore was average at best. If he had driven them down the field and won the game, he would had a good game.

Truth is he is a rookie and plays like one. Too bad we need a good quarterback who can help win games. Some of you might be happy with losing close or not sucking, but I won't be happy with him until he shows he can play clutch ball and win a game.
