We might just have something special here with Jimmy Clausen

Clausen needs to clean up his throwing motion with pressure his arm motion goes lower then normal which makes it look like a 5'10 QB is throwing the ball and under throws alot just like in college, look nervous on the last drive just like when he was a freshman in ND

One more needs to be more commanding in the huddle looked lost early with the delay of games

I'm gonna cut him some slack on the early clock management issues he had. It was his first road game as a rookie, and as you could see the veteran WR Steve Smith did help him with that early on.

What are you talking about with Moore being young and being young in his career? Matt Moore is 26 years old and in his 4th year in the league. Jimmy Clausen just turned 23 and is in his rookie year.

Moore had started 8 games prior to this season. THAT is a young professional QB.

One bad game. You don't bench a QB that had shown what Moore had here b/c of that. Those bad games happend to QBs that green in the NFL.

big plays are what Williams did on his run TD run. The Stewart pass was a gift from the Saints. They left him literally wideopen behind there coverage. It was the definition of a busted play and a gift.

Clausen didn't look good today. He looked like a rookie that needs time not playing to "get" NFL football. He locks onto his first read and scrambles every time it isn't there........we got lucky b/c on that play Clausen was doing his standard scramble and not making reads. It just so happened the busted play was right in front of his running lane he commited himself to......while running for what would have been another 3 yarder he saw Stewart sit down, build a fire, drink a margariti, and start sending up smoke signals that any fan in the stadium could loft him one for a score.

Outside of that play, there were tons of negatives that the one TD pass simply don't offset.

So our choice is between a young QB who throws INTs downfield when pressured or a younger QB who scrambles when pressured and will actually still be here next season?

Decisions, decisions.

Until teams had film on him and games actually mattered, at which point he fell apart.

By "fell apart" I mean played like probably the worst starting QB in the league.

Moore had 1 bad game. When you are as young as Moore you are going to have some horrible games that young in your career. Moore's resume was good enough you don't bench him b/c of one bad game considering his young he is into his career.

Moore will stay in the pocket. Moore is willing to look downfield. It is obvious why Gantt and everyone reported Moore looked miles better than Clausen all year leading up to week 1. Clausen looks lost......but that should be expected.

Clausen locks on to his first target and if they aren't open immediately he pulls the ball down and scrambles. That is all Clausen has shown thus far.

Couldn't the same thing be said about Moore? Except Moore would have scrambled out of bounds 5 yards behind the LOS. Well, that and the times that Moore would stand in the pocket, nurturing the football for what seemed like forever.

I wanted Moore to do well also. He lost the home field advantage though. I thought a few of the fans were going to jump down on the field and beat the hell out of him during the Bucs game. The Boos were overwhelming.

The Moore vs. Claussen argument is one that wont end soon. The fact is neither one of these two are better than an average at best QB in this league right now. So in that case start the guy who has the most potential and that my friends is Claussen. Lets see what we got in this guy and the rest of this season is gonna show us quite a bit.

He showed "some " improvement today but dont get to carried away people. The QB rating thing is crazy. Jimmy actually had a better rating today than Drew Brees - are you kidding me. Brees way more effective today and the big play was a total bust by the Saints secondary. True Claussen saw it and made the throw but the fact is it was a gift. Outside of that one play and the one other drive capped by D Will run, the Panthers did not have a single drive over 28 yards the rest of the day. That is NOT gonna work in this league.

Its certainly not all the QB fault. The offensive coordinator is TERRIBLE with no originality (the Saints showed more different formations and plays in the first quarter than we have in 4 games) and the lack of talent at WR or TE is killing this team and any hope of a passing game. Payton Manning may struggle with this group.

Having said that anyone thinking Claussen is a definate future Pro Bowler is drinking the cool aid. This QB issue in Carolina is far from solved.

Yeah okay, make of it what you will but a TD pass is a TD pass and someone still has to get the ball to him.

Aren't you the same game that last year was making the same excuses for Jake Delhomme?

"Oh Moore just isn't ready, Jake makes reads, etc etc"?

Just calm down and enjoy the ride, cause whether you like it or not, Clausen is the QB for this team for the rest of the year.

Moore had 2 starts and 2 terrible games, not 1 bad game. Moore wouldn't have hit Stewart on that "gift" because he wouldn't have kept looking downfield after protection broke down. Clausen looked very solid with the talent he has around him. CRA, you are as delusional as it gets...get over your Clausen hate. MM is terrible

Hes getting more confidence, hes got the talent he just hasen't lost hes virginity yet. You saw him throw a tight pass to Gettis @ the end of the 4th, he only threw that pass because it was a HAVE TO make a play down, if it was any other time he woulda thrown it outta bounds. I belive once he grows a pair, he will become a great QB.

Moore's body of work suggests it was a bad game. Moore's body of work suggests he gets Steve Smith the ball and looks downfield (which is key in a playaction offense).

Clausen will probably be here next season. Could easily be on the bench w/ a clipboard when the new coach arrives. Bradford looks miles ahead of Clausen (the pro ready QB) with basics required of the position.

I ain't out to knock Jimmy. He just hasn't earned the praise he is getting. He hasn't looked good.

Moore had 1 bad game. A bad game he had received a concussion in.

Fox broke his rule and still played Matt the next week. Benched Moore in a game we still had a chance to win. A game where he still showed he can do something Clausen can't do (get Smith the ball). Can't chaulk week 2 as a total failure when he was pulled in a game we still could have won.

also, Moore doesn't quit looking downfield w/ pressure.

I don't hate Clausen. Clausen has to start playing well to get praise. He has yet to show really anything. Watch a Rams game....and then watch Clausen.

Delusional is praising guys and claiming they are showing stuff.......when they haven't yet.

I don't see what CRA says at all. Yes, he scrambles, but I see him progress through his reads, and I only see him run when the pocket is starting to collapse. I Also see him ALWAYS looking to make a throw, always with his eyes down the field.
