Through three: Panthers lead 14-13

The Panthers caught a few breaks, but gave a few back, undoing most of their good work.

And an injury may undo more than that.

And amazingly, they lead 14-13 going into the fourth.

They actually scored a second offensive touchdown in a game for the first time this season, on DeAngelo Williams' 39-yard pop outside. That gave them a 14-10 lead, a rare event for these guys.

That was set up by an odd-ball third-down conversion that went off WR Dwayne Jarrett's helmet and into the hands of TE Jeff King.

But strange plays bit them as well

Former Panthers LS Jason Kyle forced a fumble with his backside, when PR Captain Munnerlyn ran into him.

But the Panthers defense continued to play stingy, allowing just a field goal to hang onto the slim lead.

WR Steve Smith left the field late in the period, holding his left ankle. He was hauled into the locker room on a cart. His return is questionable.
