At the half: Saints 10, Panthers 7

Are fireworks legal indoors in Louisiana?

The Panthers scored an offensive touchdown in the second quarter, through the air no less.

It's 10-7 Saints at the half, thanks to the Panthers defense allowing yards but stopping Saints drives by forcing fumbles and tightening up at the right times. James Anderson recovered his second of the day, and they forced a field goal just before the half.

Jimmy Clausen threw his first professional touchdown pass earlier in the period, hitting a wide open Jonathan Stewart for a 55-yard score that was the Panthers longest play from scrimmage this year.

Stewart was running free and waving at Clausen, and after catching the ball, nearly tripped and ruined it. Saints corner Jabari Greer passed Stewart off thinking he had safety help, but none was there.

The Saints are playing without starter Roman Harper (hamstring), and replacement Pierson Prioleau was injured on the preceding kickoff, forcing special teamer Chris Reis to play defense.

The offense isn't doing much, but the defense is allowing them to not have to.
