Panthers Players Stock

This week I didn't see the game but I will do my best.

Stock on the Rise

James Anderson- The rest of the league has to be asking who is this guy. He is FIFTH in the league in tackles. I hear he dropped two interceptions, but I can live with that. I'm essactic that he was in positions anyway, and his one interception from earlier in the year was nice. I always knew he was good but I didn't think he could go at this pace.

Charles Godfrey- Oh Yeah! He is the league leader in interceptions, and he has learned how to tackle physical. I thought he was too weak physically to tackle the way he has been, but I was wrong. CRA even said, "Yeah he had one good game, but two terrible others like always." Well that is an improvement since before Godfrey just sucked and never had any good games.

Derek Landri- I wanted to mention this guy last week, but since we don't have many risers I can mention this guy. Sadly, he has probably been our best D-Linemen, but this overachiever has been a nice surprise.

Free Fallers

Jordan Gross- Is becoming the Huddle's new Todd Stussie. It has only been 3 games but I am a little worried. I think that he may not have fully recovered yet, but at least he is playing unlike Otah. Get well soon Otah.

Dwyane Jarrett- I think there are people who would be okay if we just cut him and just left his spot empty. I don't think the coaches want Jarrett anywhere near Clausen's ear. They probably don't want Smith near it either but he is a necessary evil I guess. This guy sucks, and I don't believe it is Fox.

Louis Leonard- Unlike Jarrett, he actually got cut.

I think I'll give these guys a 1-4 rating:

James Anderson - 3 - Playing well and is fast for a SLB, could probably play any LB spot.

Charles Godfrey - 3 - Is playing well, but with no pass rush and too much time on the field mistakes creep in.

Derek Landri - No opinion.

Jordan Gross - 2 - Injury bug plus flag happy refs looking to call holding (mostly on us, but never the other team.)

Dwyane Jarrett - 1 - Low IQ, will never start again.

Louis Leonard - 2 - Injury bug and not that talented to begin with. JAG (just a guy.)

Eh while I'm at it:

Wharton - 4 - Looks to be fighting like a wild rhino out there. I LOVE IT. Go Wharty! He's run blocking as well as I've ever seen him. I used to hate the guy, but now he's putting it on the line.

Kalil - 2 - Having a horrible year in pass blocking, big DTs are going right by him with little trouble. He's got to step up, or Jimmy will be injured. I'm not joking.

I refuse to even mention the other two o-linemen. I refuse. Tuuurrrble.

Lefell - 2 - Runs a nice smooth route, blocks well, looks the part, and has little brick hands covered in butter.

Smith - No opinion - hard to rate the guy when I rarely see him in action. He's amazing when he has the ball, but he's out or the frame for most of the game.

Gettis - 3 - He's getting some seperation, and he can catch. From what I can tell, it seems like contact bothers this guy, throws him off balance. I remember Drew Carter had the same problem with DBs getting physical with him. Gettis needs to hit the weight room and add whatever muscle he has room to add.

Fiametta -3 - will flat out blow a LB up, he can really punish defenders, but what does it matter when we don't use him that much? He's like a heavy weight fighter that goes to the body, you don't see the full effect until the later rounds. This guy is a monster, his size and weight distribution makes it impossible for LBs to really take him on.

I don't really pay attention to the TEs.

Brown - 2 - At Florida St Brown would just use pure speed to blow by OTs. At the NFL level his speed rush isn't working. Once an OT gets his hands on him, he just can't get free. And he's not really big enough to bull rush an NFL OT.

I hate our DTs with a deep passion. They don't get a mention.

Hardy - 2 - I was high on Hardy in preseason, but against NFL starters he doesn't look as great as I had hoped. The good news is that he hasn't really maxed out his potential, next season should be his time to shine (or flop).

We know about the other DEs and our CBs.

I fully expect upgrades at DT and DE for next season, either through the draft or FA. We'll probably stick with the WRs we have until they either flop or shine after a few years.
