Drummers

Let's see how many we've actually got on here

Ok so i've been learning since May on a very cheap electronic kit. i don't have a lot of space to work with and not enough money and I figure when I'm better at playing down the road I can blow money on a real nice kit, you know, 3 crashes, 4/5 toms, that kind of poo.

My influences are Steven Adler, Matt Sorum, Tommy Lee, and Dave Grohl. Right now, my favorite song to play is Rocket Queen by GNR, partly because it's easy enough for me, and also because it's got a very loose and groovy rhythm (I know that it's true that was what they were going for as well because the band said somewhere in an interview they were going for a Cameo-type funk rock beat)

Kind of weird, but I also like playing to hip hop and electronic beats and give them a more acoustic, less-produced drum track. Most of them are very easy so in a way they're simple timing exercises but the side effect to it is it's fun to play to.

if any of you out there also play the drums feel free to chat, share your influences and what you like to play to as well.

Steve Gadd, Neil Pert and Carter Beauford are some of my favorite drummers.

I played set for a few years, a couple years with a jazz ensemble and did 3 years of Marching Band in high school, so I love drum corps as well.

Most of my friends are much better at the drumset than I ever will be, though. But none of them can touch me on a marching snare.

I've been playing for 12 years now and consider myself to be a decent drummer. I've always played in bands and never really got much enjoyment out of practicing alone, not sure why. I need to work on chops and rudiments more. My band members are always happy with my work so I must be doing something right.

My big influences are Gene Krupa, Danny Carey, Brann Dailor, Lars Ulrich, and Igor Cavalera.

My style has always been metal/blues, if that makes any sense. I love fast aggressive music with double bass, but at the same time I can pour my heart and soul into a slow blues tune like Texas Flood or Houston.

Great to see so many drummers on here, we always need more drummers to offset the thousands of Guitar heros out there.

Playing drums alone is no fun. Gotta have a jam session. I had my own Pearl Export Seris for a bit and was decent(snare, 3 toms, 2 crash, 1 splash, 1 ride, bass and high hat). Always had a hellva time trying to transition between toms and snare.

I hear ya on the metal/blues combo. Both probably the best to just go for it.

Also a hugh Krupa fan and Buddy Rich!

My son is captain or something on the drum line (1st bass). He doesn't suck. :P

I was bottom bass. I was really tall and uncoordinated, neither of which has changed much.

I love to drums, but have relegated myself to listening and sparing people eardrums by playing.

I love all things drums, floor sets, DCI, high school drum lines, all of it.
