Dont forget he was also the victim of the 'tuck" rule.

He would have been in another superbowl.

Those are Grudens stats in 11 years with two teams...

Guess who this is? and in 15 years...

Seriously? I don't get why so many people want Gruden as HC when he really didn't do much in Tampa Bay. Sure, he won a Superbowl BUT lets remember that the team that was assembled was by Tony Dungy and not Gruden.

Furthermore, the main reason he was fired was because players and the FO thought he was too aggressive.

What makes you think that Jerry Richardson would hire a coach who can't even get his players to respect him?

This isn't college, the head coaches dont assemble teams in the NFL.

And I believe he could possibly leave Meeks in place.

He could help develop Clausen and bring some creativity that is lacking and everyone complains about.

He would make sure the run game stays top notch.

He is not afraid to get into somebodys ass (no homo, at least I wouldnt assume).

He helped lead the Buccs to playoffs even when everyone had them picked dead last (07) in particular.

His face lights up when talking about our team, which makes me think he would be really enthused to take the job if offered and he is a proven winner.

And I believe he would possibly leave Meeks in place.

He never had a offence ranked higher then 17th in points while with the Bucs.

Maybe, not really sure but I'll trust you. He also didnt have what we have talent-wise either. His best QB was arguably Brad Johnson. Best RB... Caddy or Dunn. Clausen has potential to be a top QB, and we have a two great RB's. Of course this can change by next year, why don't you look up the Raiders scoring when he coached there. Tell me Rich Gannon was a pro bowl QB before he got there.

With the Raiders he found great sucsess, but I was going by what he did recently. Gannon did not make the Pro Bowl before , but that was due more to a string of unfournate events then his performence.

Gruden is a great offensive mind no doubt. He didn't have great success at Tampa in his later years but he didn't have much talent either. Plus the question is what did he learn from being fired. If he stays cocky and unwilling to listen to others, then I wouldn't want him. But if learns from his mistakes he could be like other guys like Belicheck who wasn't great one place and came into his own in a different situation.

    • yeah. winter backpacking trips were the most miserable and amazing experiences. same with the coldest and snowiest hunting  experiences. i love being in it. makes for incredible memories. the worse it was, the more i ended up loving it. made the greatest memories.  i just want to get out of it afterwards.
    • I forgot about Jackson...definitely elite.  The sad part of your list is that 2 of them were 'there for the taking for the Panthers'.  Rumor has it that Hurney loved Herbert and was vetoed on trying to trade up.  And rumor has it that Frank & McCown wanted Stroud.  I believe both rumors.
    • I went on a solo elk hunt in the Flat Tops. It was awesomely miserable. LOL It was a late season hunt, I think third season and it was forecasted to snap off cold with highs in the upper thirties and lows in the single digits. fug it, I'm going anyway. They were wrong. The highs were in the low 20s and the lows were in the negative teens. I shivered so hard the first night I thought my teeth were going to break. It was the only time I've ever been legit concerned that I might be in trouble. Crawled out of my sleeping bag and got a fire started and suffered through the night bundled up next to the fire. I slept the next two nights literally wearing every stitch of clothing I'd brought with Nalgenes full of near boiling water in the bottom of my sleeping bag. That was the only way to have non-frozen water in the morning anyway. There was about a foot of snow on the ground and the melt/freeze crust was almost enough to support your weight but you'd go crashing through just as you went or make your step. It was exhausting travel and every step sounded like a rifle shot. Hunting was basically impossible. I never saw an elk in those four days, only saw 5-6 deer. LOL It was brutal but I loved it. Absolutely beautiful country that is never been to before and haven't been back since. I needed that four day complete break from society fighting for my life against the elements. I'm weird like that.
