There are rumors that the Panthers are shopping Steve Smith

I love Steve Smith, he's been my favorite player since 03', and 89 is the only authentic jersey I have and he is the wallpaper on my laptop.

With that being said. I have went from "Hell no, never not under any circumstances" to "Well, if we were blown away by an offer. 1st+4th or 2nd+3rd+6th", but I agree with what many have said that he is more important to the franchise, and he isn't 'just' a great receiver.

If he asked for a trade secretly, and the panthers could maintain leverage in a deal, then I would consider it and respect his decision. But if he publicly demanded a trade, I would be mad because it would hurt his value in respect to the team.

Do you think this team could possibly get any worse at this point?

Do you think we can turn around the season and make the playoffs?

Do you think Steve Smith will be a difference maker in helping this franchise win a championship in the next two or three years?

If the answers to all three of those questions is "NO" then why the hell wouldn't you trade Steve Smith?

Look, I don't want to see him go. And I understand why everyone's screaing "why would you trade your best offensive weapon" but it really boils down to the future at this point. Steve Smith is not the future of this team. Accept it. Yes, our WR corps would likely be the worst in NFL history if we traded Smith mid-season. But really, his performance on the field this year isn't going to change this team's direction, salvage this season, or relieve any of our collective misery.

We talked about this back in Oct 2009...and I got lambasted over it.

Heck...even talked about DeAngelo while he still has 1st round worth and in the final year of his rookie contract. Prior to this season, I would've said you could get a 1st out of Smitty. Now? No...probably a 2nd. But any fool that thinks we traded away a headcase DT to the Jets for a 5th thinks that we'll trade away Smitty for another primadonna headcase DT is out of their freaking mind.

And the tweet hijack attempt is bush league and selfish...

If not, do you trust our front office or future front office to draft and develop a wide receiver that can replace Smith?

Do you think Clausen will develop more quickly and become a better quarterback without Smith?

If you answered "No" to these questions, why in the hell would you trade Steve Smith?
