Hey I finally saw the game

But it shouldn't be...that's the point.

Our passing offense shouldn't rely on making long throws.

The Pats went to the Super Bowl, and won, multiple times last decade, on a short, effective, safe, passing offense.

You do want to have medium and short passes for sure but play action is a specific type of run fake designed to make the safeties either stop or come into the box so you can throw the ball over the top to a receiver now in single coverage. Look at New England or NO, they don't use a lot of playaction because it not effective with the type of offense they run. When Brady of brees uses playaction, you can guaranteed the ball is going deep. Otherwise they are in shotgun or simply drop back and either run or pass.

SO yeah when you use play action you need to throw it down the field. When you are using the shotgun or straight dropping back then you use the short or medium passes.

Appreciate the support but folks here don't want to see anything but the extreme positives. I told them that this team wouldn't go better than 6-10 and got slammed. I told them that getting rid of Jake was a mistake and got slammed. I told folks getting rid of so many vets and not having depth would cause problems down the road. And now I am telling them that putting in Clausen without a decent gameplan that plays to his strengths and doesn't get him killed might cause problems down the road and I will get slammed again.

As I have said, I hope I am wrong on this. Unfortunately so far I haven't been. Clausen could defintely be the answer but I just wonder what consistent losing and a weekly pounding will do to his confidence down the road. Just like in Houston by the time Kubiak got there it was too late for Carr. After 3 years at ND and getting pounded here, it will be hard for Jimmy to not hear footsteps. Wouldn't be his fault really. And it could be rectified with a little better gameplanning. Lets hope that Davidson has a Playcalling Ghost of the future visit tonight and comes out tomorrow with a completely different and workable gameplan.

i still don't see getting rid of jake as a mistake. it was a good move. the extension was a mistake if anything. the team leaned too hard on jake and there were too many people that would have been leaning back on him too quickly.

i still feel like it's the best thing to have clausen go in there this early and get his lumps out of the way. he'll be fine. he isn't david carr.

we do need to have a gameplan that works to his strengths but from the way it sounds, he is having a his voice heard in the matter. he's taking an active role in the gameplanning. they'll figure out what works for him. it may take a while but they know what they have in him. i'm sure they know his limitations as well. every week we should be seeing improvements. i don't know about drastic improvements but they will be there.

that said, if everything i have heard about clausen's work ethic and commitment to improving himself is remotely close to true, i wouldn't be surprised if there were pretty significant improvements in what he does from week to week.

i've got my fingers crossed that there will be.

What I noticed is the defense gave the offense plenty of chance to win the game. But our offense blew it. J-Stews fumble was costly as we could have started the game up on the Bengals. Yes Davidson's play calling is horrible but the D did give the O plenty of chances to keep the game close or even win the da*n game.

@ NO -Win Defense will be clicking and Clausen will be feeding Smitty the ball

Bears -Lose Peppers/Harris first game back Bears Defense will be brutal

BYE

SFO -Win Very good chance of winning

STL -Win Same

NO - Win Yes we sweep the Saints

TB - Win Revenge game

BAL - Win Weak Secondary

CLE - Win Jake

SEA - Win Will be burnt out

ATL -Win Defense and Smash and Dash

ARZ -Win Our QB is better

PIT -Lose Pitts defense kills us

ATL - Lose In Atl

So we are 0-3 right now. Actually could see 10-6 but we will drop one game with a WTF moment. Saints I think we will sweep, Atlanta will win the last game, TB we owe them one. Seattle I think will be burnt out and our secondary will pick Hassleback apart.

Tear me up but my gut is saying this will happen.

If this happens Squirrel I will personally mail you a bag of salty nuts, a thank you card, and an eight ball. The Magic kind, not the devils dandruff kind.

Our defense needs to take advantage of the opportunities delivered right into their hands. How many interceptions were dropped the other day? I saw 2 on the NFL highlights, and I was told there was at least one other one (I will see the game on the NFL Network replay this week).

The front office should be kicked in their collective backside for not having a true veteran QB on the sidelines for Clausen and/or Moore to be able to discuss the game as it progresses. THAT'S what's missing from the last several games of last season, when Jake was there for Moore.

4 in the 1st half, 2 by Anderson (1 led to a TD) and 1 each by Gamble (missed pick 6) and S. Martin (led to a FG).
