Hey I finally saw the game

Only took me a day and a half.

1. Clausen will never get benched. The only things I saw besides the botched snaps was he stared down receivers and he did get rattled by the blitzes late in the game. Once the game slows down for him he will be a stud.

2. Turnovers cost us this game. We gave Cincy 14 on turnovers. First have we could get started due to them.

3. Defense did good the only problem was they started to go flat in the first half. Need to get back to gang tackling and getting exicted didnt see that much in this game. Seemed like they just did want to play.

4. WR corp is set Smitty, Lafell and Ghettis are going to carry us the next couple of years. Clausen did miss some easy throws to Smitty but that goes back to him staring down receivers. Give Clausen some games and that will be fixed.

5. ST nothing really to say Cincy isnt that good on punt returns and we didnt get many chances to return them.

6. Running game Dont know whats the matter with Stewart but he isnt himself. Goodson shouldnt get more touches than either Dwill or Stewart. That fumble by Stewart wasnt really his fault. That just a good hit by the Linebacker.

7. Dont see why everyone was complaining about the coaching. Execution was the biggest problem in this game. I expect a better game next week I even think we can win it.

8. Oline we are missing Otah. They really need to put Wharton at RT til he comes back.

9. Record this year. I think we still have a chance for the playoffs. I can see us going 9-7.

10. This board overreacts way to much. No need to burn the stadium down.

Good points, especially number 1. I guess we just need to convert panther55 and pantherfanforlife quickly before they go on suicide watch when #3 gets released for a roster spot for Trent Edwards

Moore wont be release. Pike will come up with a mysteries injury and be IR'ed.

Coaching. You have to be kidding. Cincy was calling much better plays. We should have been throwing to the TEs much more...not to mention a few more screens and quick outs to slow that pass rush down.

Are you actually saying that Jimmy is our QB of the future, after crying all week for a veteran QB?

Goodson needs to touch the ball more as a de facto WR.

I can go along with the rest of your analysis. It is too early to tell, but I suspect that Jimmy will have some game once he figures out WTH is going on. Of course, better pass protection would help. He needs to be aware of where the weak-side safety is at all times, and has to know that someone is coming more times than not, but this will come with experience.

9-7...playoffs...

You havent realised yet that I like to stir crap up? I will holler for a about anything if I think it will get a rise out of people.

The coaches wasnt the one throwing the ball and most of Jimmy's passes was going to RB's and TE's. He did spread the ball around pretty nicely.

Goodson doesnt need to get the ball more than Stewart or Dwill both of them can catch out in the flat too.

Dont laugh at my record prediction it is a real possibilty once the team gels.

9-7 just ain't happening. 7-9 is far-fetched. I don't think we're the worst team in the league but the playoffs just are not happening this year. This season is about growing our young QB and WRs. If the O-Line improves with Otah's return and the defense can stay focused with a lackluster offense leaving them in trouble all the time we can win some games. I just hope Clausen grows, gets the chance to, and can really do work next season.

Yes, my rodent mod, I am very well aware of your Zod-esque tactics of stirring the pot when it gets to be a little boring in the Huddle.

OK, I'll give you that a few of Jimmy's passes went in Rosario's direction, but that was more out of necessity than anything else (if you get what I'm saying). IMO, the coaches need to concentrate on putting a generous amount of two-TE sets into their game plans with the intention of getting one of them the ball, and not just an afterthought. As for Goodson (and, yes, he fumbled), I think that he is just playing with a little more gusto than Double Trouble. He seems to have more of a sense of urgency. Plus, dare i say it, he seems to have an extra gear that the other two don't have when he is out here in the flat (i.e., he can turn that corner quicker, and be gone).

As for 9-7 and the playoffs, well...I applaud you for your optimism, and I hope that you are right, but at this point I have to laugh to keep from cursing the ground that some within the Panthers organization walk upon.

All this throwing to TEs crap is annoying. Only 2 of our TEs can catch. 1 is third string and can only apparently run a 9 route. 1 is first string and takes forever to get down field. And the second stringer can't catch the ball or get open consistently.

I prefer giving Clausen some easy throws. Not much decision making. But easy plays where a dump off can be the primary option. Get some easy yards, some easy first downs. poo Drew Brees didn't fall into the Saints' lap, a lot of these kinds of plays were prominent his first couple years. I remember them going on like 16 play drives against us from all the dumpoffs and 3 yard runs. Those kinds of plays give the QB the opportunity to dissect a defense, see what coverages they're using and force them to back off the pressure.

Young QB, Young WRs, Young Oline... you gotta go with your strengths...and if they're not there, make some.

I think the one time since '06 that I didn't have a bad feeling after Panthers losses early on in the season was '08 and we all know how good we were that year (even if we got our ass kicked in the playoffs it was a good campaign)

I've got the same bad feeling in last few weeks about this year's team that I did in '09 (wks 1-3), '07 (wks 2,4), and '06 (wks 1,2)

...yea I think i'm going to conclude that we're going to suck this year

    • Honestly Bryce is a conundrum right now I'm not really sure what we should do with him but I am content on him being the quarterback number one going into next season. I think we should allow him the chance to play out the season to prove that he's the quarterback he can be going into next season.  I would not waste a high draft pick on a quarterback because I'm not sure anyone in this up and coming class is as good or has the ceiling that he had with that said I wouldn't throw away the future I would bring in someone like Justin Fields to have him looking over his shoulder and give us a plan b if everything doesn't go right on a one-year deal. I think the priority right now if tepper wants to make a big splash is find a way to get Travis Hunter that would be option 1AA because he helps with both sides of the field either way whatever you need defense or offense. Make that happen and then go mostly defense the rest of the way and we're cooking.
    • Move on from what?   Let me guess we gatekeeping on who we can and can't appreciate?   Next time I will just make a Kuechly appreciation thread lmao
