Take out the heroin addiction bullshit and Lila, and season 2 was great. Better than season 3.

Season 3: Accidentally kills the wrong person

Season 4: Introduction of Trinity/car wreck

I'll have to re-watch. I remember the car-wreck after leaving the gym. I don't remember one in the opener.

Season 5: Dexter muddling around trying to figure out how to respond

I don't know if you noticed... but his wife just died! He showed real emotion for the first time. Maybe you missed the bathroom scene with Harry?

Yeah, its a slow paced show, but this one just didn't hold up to previous openers at all. I expected better overall writing as well. It just felt half assed.

With seasons that last 12 episodes, you'll never get filler episodes. It may not have lived up to the expectations of some, but I think it was right in line with the rest of the series.

Scuba divers discover approximately 30 hefty bags of Dexter's mutilated victims' body parts on the ocean floor.

Six months after the season 3 finale, Dexter is now living with three kids and a wife in a new home. Along with his new son Harrison, the complexities of being a suburban father of three is making it difficult for Dexter to concentrate on his work. Dexter's lack of sleep results in a murderer being released because Dexter brought the wrong case file to court. A recently retired Agent Lundy has returned to finally capture the "Trinity Killer", who has been at large for 30 years. After a call from Rita, Dexter quickly kills the released murderer but totals his car after falling asleep at the wheel.

I know mah Dex, and that opener was not up to par with previous openers. It was still better than 95% of television.

With that said, does anyone think that they are ending the show after this season, and they are setting up Dexter's demise? I think they are (biggest clue is that the show has not been renewed past this season!)

I bet they are gonna put Dex in the situation where he has to come clean to Deb, and the Irish Dective Shoots him....

I don't think this season is the end, maybe after next. I think they have to end it with him getting caught though. He'll never stop killing, and serial killers eventually get caught... I hope?

Dex won't get caught. Deb Angel, Masuka, or Guererra might find out about him but he will cover his tracks and handle the situation like he always does. I could see the series ending with another "tonights the night!" Whats better than a serial killer who is still out there? He is to likable to be taken out.

This might be a spoiler to the ending of the series, it might not:

In the books (I haven't read them, this is second hand info), Deb knows about Dexter being a serial killer and she helps cover up for him. I hear the books are very different from the series, so this may or may not happen. This season could definitely end up with her or someone else knowing about him. If I were to make an educated guess, I'd say Deb kills Quinn when he tries to rat Dexter out.
