Fox: Clausen "more than likely" to start

For those of you who can't see how much more potential and skill Jimmy has over Moore then there is little use in arguing with you.

I look at what the QB saw or didn't see when he makes a mistake. Moore doesn't see and can't read the coverages as well as Jimmy does. Jimmy threw his int to Smitty who was matched up with Hall one on one. His throw was off but his read on the play was good. Moore ints came from not reading the plays correctly being unable to find open receivers or mismatches. For heaven's sack, in that giants game he threw into guys who had 4 or 5 defenders on them.

He has ALWAYS locked onto his first receiver.

Jimmy does not have happy feet. He stays in the pocket until he's flushed out by defenders. And even then, he's still looking for his receivers down field.

There is no way a rookie in his first game should be able to compare with a guy who been in the league as long as Moore has. I think Fox all along saw the problems with Moore but much like every other QB we've had thought he could be a game manager as we relied on defense, field position, and the run game.

I can't even comprehend anybody thinking Matt freakin Moore is a better QB right now and I can promise it won't be long before people can't even remember the guy's name.

I don't care who starts.....but if you want to talk potential. Jimmy hasn't shown more on Sunday's than Moore has. Moore has put together some good games in a young career (9 starts).

Jimmy was locking on pretty absurdly Sunday as well.

as far as staying in the pocket....Jimmy has shown to flee quicker than Moore.

as far as winning next week, Moore does probably give them a better chance. Too late for that, Jimmy should get reps as the season is a waste either way. Might as well do some good with what we have and that means Jimmy plays. Moore has had a lot of good games. 1 bad one.

Until our oline starts blocking better, Jimmy fleeing quicker isn't necessarily a bad thing.

Hall was in man with a safety over the top no more than 3 yards behind Smith. Smith was double covered and was in no way open at all. And they showed replays right after the snap Jimmy was looking that way.

I am in no way arguing for or against Jimmy but when people make statements they need to be held accountable. I hate the exaggeration that people "know" Jimmy reads a defense better or Moore throws into 5-man coverage. I understand most everyone has a bias one way or another but if you just stick to facts this place would be a lot more bearable.

It's either a good indication of Clausen's ability or a demonstration of how dire our quarterback situation is that a rookie isn't playing all that worse than someone who has been in the system for years... =(

I agree with Fox on this one. They pulled the trigger. Trying to back out on Clausen now would only screw him up, and show that Fox is treading water in a sinking ship.

What they need to do is start activating backup O-linemen. Bench Gross's ass. Shake 'em up. You don't need to worry about messing up line chemistry because they have none.

Don't know if I agree with that, do you really want to see Clausen get murdered? I know the line looks like crap, but just imagine some backups with no chemistry whatsoever...Clausen would be decapitated before the first quarter is over.

Fox has truely signed his resignation letter by staying with Clausen! Moore has proven he is this teams leader. If his offensive line would hold for more than 2 snaps a drive, and if his receivers could hold onto the ball then he might be able to show us his stuff. Big Mistake benching Moore.

Fox has collapsed under Jimmy CLausen's Daddy's media blitz! Its too obvious that all the hype of this kid is being stired up by his father and now Foxy is drinking the koolaid! Think about it, didn't any of you see his dad rubbing shoulders at Camp? He and Jimmy's Agent Gary Wichard were all over that place.

Why do you think Jimmy got that 4 year deal during pre-season?

accept the fact that moore is not in the long term plans, he never was,clausen may or may not be what many believe him to be but we might as well find out now rather than latter.

The same patience should have been given to Moore! If if wasn't Foxy's last year, Matt would be on the field and we'd be 1-2 this week, not 0-3!!!

I agree that he got pulled a bit early and who knows how well he would have played last week. Given the weather conditions and the team's overall crappy play, I would say he wouldn't have fared much better. The difference is that Moore has had his chances and is not a rookie anymore by any means.

We don't know Matt Moore is gone next year that is only specualtion on this site. Clausen hasn't shown he is the future of anything so far. Right now Moore has a record of 6-4 as a starter. Clausen is 0-1 soon to be 0-2. It took Moore 3 years to lose as many games as Clausen will have lost in 2 weeks. Hard to call that the future of anything.

you know how many QBs are drafted to be "the future" and never do squat at this level. Based on Moore's promise he showed in the actual NFL....he was pulled to early. 1 bad game week 1. That was what he was what occured.....and his audition was over.

Fox messed up. Pulled him to soon. Should have given him at least 4 games as the starter. He is too young of a QB not to have a really bad game. His 8 prior starts in the NFL earned more than 1 game before getting yanked.
