Fox: Clausen "more than likely" to start

We definitely don't want to put it all on Jimmy. From what I could see we definitely didn't help him when we abandoned the run in the second half or ran continuously in the first half and didn't even let him throw the ball down the field.

Right now we should be doing what he prefers, throwing it short to medium and throwing it to guys like Goodson in the slot. In fact I would line up Smitty there a few times.NOt only is the playcalling too predictable but it doesn't help jimmy do what he does best at this point. Truth is Davidson did a decent job in 2007 with moore parinf down the playbook and giving things he could do. I don't know why he can't seem to do the same thing 3 years later with Clausen.

Actually I was in section 544 where I always am. Maybe the problem was you didn't look up far enough in the cheap seats. LOL

I was in 543 row 8 listening to two idiots behind me laughing in each others ear every time something happened! Damn I just missed U!

You have to admit, though, a lot of that can be blamed on the play calling. I believe he had 5 passing attempts in the first half?! Even if every one of those plays went for 50 yards they would still stack the box because he only threw it 5 times!

Now, when they opened up the passing game in the second half he settled in. There was a nice ball to Gettis where Gettis held up on the go route and the pass to Lafell wasn't in Garbage time, at least not that I remember, thought the score was 13-7 at that point?! Could be wrong, had a lot of rain in my eyes and beer in my belly! Anyway, I looked for you at the game to get you that beer but all I saw was orange so I figured you must be watching from the tunnel! :D

he hit LaFell late in the 4th. We were down 20-7.

In fact, after Carolina went down 20-7. That is when Clausen accumulated most of his production. 9 of his 16 completions and 106 of his 188 yards.

He better start. And no, people won't stfu about it. I bet at least 1 person will keep creating threads this week stating how Moore should start.

Once the starter spot changed my mind was also. JC is now in the spot MM was 9 games ago...and the taste of experience may be the best thing for us. It won't be pretty, but it sure beats sitting on wood just to be thrown in on week 9 or 10 and asked to "save" the season.

The coaching staff here is now my only bone of contention. So whatever the team players do means little compared to what ownership does, with regards to the coaches.

PantherFanForlife?

What a tool. Where have I ever stated Matt should start? Stop putting words in my mouth. Starting Matt would be the dumbest thing Fox could do and nothing good would come for anyone.

Because someone doesn't see the greatness that you see in Jimmy, means I HAVE to be a Matt lover and want Matt to start?

No middle ground huh? Bunch of dull tools.

You know, one thing that gets me about the entire team...and I mean all of them including Smitty, is why in the hell have they not called for a player only meeting? There are some vets on this team that are not afraid to be called out or call people out; i.e. Beason! I have heard about Dallas and a few other teams that have already done it this year, why not us? Do the players just not care? I mean, they can all see the play calling sucks, hell Steve has been pissy about that for two years now; they all know this is likely Foxes last year and while some (most) of them will be playing together next year, they will be playing for someone else...I just wonder why they haven't pulled together as a team and put it on their own shoulders to improve?!

There is a huge difference between throwing 1 pass in garbage time to a receiver once the game is over and the other team is in a prevent mode versus hitting a guy deep in the first half when the score actually matters. QUOTE]

They weren't in prevent, and even if they were, wouldn't hitting a deep pass like that against a prevent D actually be more impressive?

Would say stop looking for reasons/excuses to not like him, but I do the same thing to like him, so whatever. Moore/Clausen people need to just agree to disagree. Fox doesn't give a crap about our opinions, no point arguing over the QB spot, this team has a lot of other problems.

Beer was COLD!!! I lost track of time / score at the end of the game...had to kill those 3 beers I got at the end of the third quarter! lol

I hope to get a chance to watch the game on TV tonight so I can get a better look at some things. Overall, given the weather conditions and the D he was up against, I thought he did well in the second half!

it is all a blur, I was curious and looked it up.

yeah, first NFL start with a team not known for making life easy on an offense....in the rain. I am not unhappy w/ Jimmy.

Speaking of putting words where thye don't belong, we're still waiting for you to show us who said Jimmy was gonna throw 5 TDs last week.

As long as the players know, I could give a rats ass what he tells anyone not a Panthers player.

that is really what I am implynig, he needs to commit to a QB. Not telling his team it is up for grabs every week between 2 young QBs based off of how they do in 1 game.

Yea but I suspect the players will know this week without him having to blatantly tell us for our own satisfaction.

well, Kalil made a comment that Fox doesn't need to have a revolving door at the position. Player comments make it clear imo they don't know who the starting QB is for this team. Players should be informed following each game who the QB will be the next day.....pick a QB.

For those of you who can't see how much more potential and skill Jimmy has over Moore then there is little use in arguing with you.

I look at what the QB saw or didn't see when he makes a mistake. Moore doesn't see and can't read the coverages as well as Jimmy does. Jimmy threw his int to Smitty who was matched up with Hall one on one. His throw was off but his read on the play was good. Moore ints came from not reading the plays correctly being unable to find open receivers or mismatches. For heaven's sack, in that giants game he threw into guys who had 4 or 5 defenders on them.

He has ALWAYS locked onto his first receiver.

Jimmy does not have happy feet. He stays in the pocket until he's flushed out by defenders. And even then, he's still looking for his receivers down field.

There is no way a rookie in his first game should be able to compare with a guy who been in the league as long as Moore has. I think Fox all along saw the problems with Moore but much like every other QB we've had thought he could be a game manager as we relied on defense, field position, and the run game.

I can't even comprehend anybody thinking Matt freakin Moore is a better QB right now and I can promise it won't be long before people can't even remember the guy's name.
